What Is Wrong with the Rating System in Leaderboard?

Sometimes, you get 0 points for winning, sometimes you lose 1000 for losing. I went from 1389 to 25 in a single loss, then I won 7 games in a row and went to 159, then lost again a dropped to 1. What is going on here?

Are you playing against other players or against NPCs? I guess the loses in PvP are worst than against AI. But it is just an speculation. And yeah, ToT system is very weird.

PvP, Leaderboard. I was first and dropped to about 80th place after a single loss, which probably shouldnt work like that.

based on how the other leaderboards work (trial/arena leaderboards) the posted scores are sometimes lagged by a few min as they refresh

not saying this is what is happening here, as ive seen other reports suggesting that there are other weird things happening with score like going over the max needed to switch brackets

I am winning pretty much all of my games and then I lost one and dropped hard too. :(

Speculation: if you lose to someone way below you in the rankings, you'll drop by a lot. If you lose to someone just underneath you, you won't get dinged as hard. Would explain the variable loss amounts, anyway.

Yes, but that is absolutely ridiculous to lose hundreds or even thousands of points with just a single loss. How hard would it be to implement ELO rating system with some minor tweaks?

I wonder if its better to just sit idle at the front, since one loss is basically equal to like 6-7 wins when youre at the top.

I also lose 1,000 points whenever I lose but I gain 1,000 sometimes right after if I win. This is so discouraging

It does flatten out a bit when more people gets at the same rating level, but those at the top will still suffer significant rating drops when they lose, and while this might be 80% skill 20% luck game, (unlike chess, which is 100% skill), you will lose from time to time due to unlucky card draws and may drop from 1st place out of top 100 with just a single loss.

They really need to add rating increase/decrease cap.

I think you got that 80% 20% mixed up. Most TGC are based heavily around luck, not skill. And this game where personal deck building isn't a thing, where there's a shared pile. It's more based on RNG than most TGC. Probably intentional to make it more accessible, which I get. I've just given up being competitive with it. Games like this are nearly impossible to take seriously.

This is a standardized deckbuilder akin to Star Realm, Ascension, Dominion (which is not the same as CCG). It is much less luck-based imho than CCGs (like MtG). At first it might seem too random--if you are not getting those few cards you rely on because you think they are overpowered or you built your strategy up front and cant adopt to the situation on the table--but the margin of error is quite large. You may make a mistake in early turns, without knowing it, and then blame it on bad luck, which happened multiple times to me, opponents made obvious mistakes and then PMed me how lucky I was.

Assuming its not a graphic bug, could be population based.

    1. You're fighting people that are not in the rubedite tier
    2. You're fighting people that are below the 100 ranking

Those are my guesses on why some wins grant you good points, others not so much. I'm hoping that its #1 more than #2, but I wouldn't be surprised it is as I imagine there are population issues at the high ranks (there always are in PvP games). But if its a case of #1, I don't think there should be any change. No increase or decrease, regardless of the outcome.
