Tales of Tribute - Resigning

I just found out that there is a 10 minute penalty for resigning a game of ToT.
This is plain stupid. If you are hopelessly behind in a duel game, you should be able to resign the game without any penalties. It is the right and polite thing to do if you don't want to waste your AND your opponent's time. In every other card game, Gwent, Hearthstone, Magic, players can resign a game at any point for good reasons. This is not a team competition where leaving the arena is weakening your side, this is a duel! There is no need to force the players to play it out until the end, especially since ToT comes with a 90 second turn clock.

Don't they give a lower quality reward container if you get defeated? Think its to stop people spamming resign for the reward box without playing any matches.

That could be easily remedied by not giving a reward for a forfeited game.

They should remove the reward when you resign a game then. Maybe with an extra warning before you confirm.
I mean... white loot boxes are nothing to write home about anyways and the process of starting a game, resigning and re-queueing, all that for a white box, sounds a bit boring.

Indeed, there shouldn't be any reward for not playing the game.

It’d be great to be able to resign if need be. Sometimes real world interferes and you need to get out quickly (I’m looking at you, child of mine). I’d be fine with no rewards for a resigned game. I can come back later and try again, you know?

I feel that there should be a cutoff point of both time and point difference, where a person could be allowed to concede and still get a losing coffer. Perhaps only if the winner agrees. It shouldn't be difficult to implement.

After cutoff has been reached, for example, the game has been going on for 15 minutes, or the person in the lead is ahead by 25 prestige, add an additional option to the quitting box: "Concede?"

If yes is chosen, then between turns - so as not to interrupt the person winning DURING their turn - pop up a box for them saying the other has offered to concede the game, and asking if this is acceptable.

If winner says yes, game ends, winner gets winning credit, loser gets losing credit.
If winner says no, give the other person the option of forfeiting with no reward at all.

When i understand i am far behind i just click "Finish Move".

Still there were SEVERAL cases when my opponent understanding they are losing just disconnected (pull off the wire or disable Wi-Fi). In this case i was getting a Victory screen, BUT this kind of victory was NOT registered for player vs player dailies. I suppose this is a bug, which opens an opportunity to troll others, significantly complicating to do one of two cards daily quests.

Resign button is a good idea. But @ZOS, please, fix the bug with fleeing.

Good strat to concede but i think a real resign would be better.

Also, we probably want concede to only be possible after x amount of turns and x amount of time. Depending on the players, 15 minutes can be 15 turns or 40 turns. I think a minimum of 8-10 minutes to prevent spamming for rewards and 10-14 turns so that players actually are at a point in the game where they can know they will lose would make sense.

instead of penalizing the player on forfeit with a cooldown on the queue, it should penalize rewards with a cooldown, so if they jump right back in and win, it would clear the cooldown, if they jump back in and forfeit again before the timer is up, then no rewards

I didn't realize that the opponent couldn't resign (without setting me back in my quest) until someone I was playing whispered me, complaining that I was taking too long to win the game that I was winning. A guild member I told about the incident informed me what the deal was.

Do you really want to force someone to play an obviously-lost game to the bitter end out of consideration for their opponent? Now, lots of players do this, because otherwise you're wasting everyone's time, and we have a generally very nice community here. But not being able to resign without screwing over the other player is not a good way to foster a friendly card-playing atmosphere or long-term interest in the game once most people have gotten all the goodies.

I understand that the rule is there to penalize people trying to game the system and get coffers or finish their daily quest without actually playing. But the rewards from a match win or daily quest completion are not so valuable to justify ruining an otherwise-good time just to prevent shenanigans with pretty economically inconsequential payouts.

Had an additional thought but can't edit, so, P.S.

If someone winning when their opponent concedes "too early" is somehow a much bigger deal than I feel it is, a couple little additional conditions could solve the problem.
Make concession only available after one of the following:
      • A set time has passed (for example, 5 minutes)
      • One player reaches a set power level (for example, 20 power)
The conceding player gets a short (2 minutes or so) cooldown.

      What do you think?

I've never conceded a game or found any need to, but I see how someone could, for example, hover at 39 points to grief the other person by forcing them to stay in the game until they either lose or concede.

This sounds like a great solution. Alternatively, they could only apply the deserter penalty and deny the winner a Tribute Coffer and quest credit IF the other person concedes before conditions like that are met.

I think conceding should be disallowed once a player passes 30 prestige. Given that conceding doesn't count as a win for the daily. Just lose like an adult when you are behind.

Or conceding should count as a win for the daily maybe? I can understand someone wanting to concede if the scores are at 7-30.

I would gladly give up the reward bag to not get a timer. Most games that I have conceded were when I knew there was no way to catch up and win. There should not be a penalty for more or less saying hey you beat me good game and moving onto the next match.
What is the definition of insanity? Ask ZOS.

I don't know if its a bug or not but I do know that it still happens and lately, I've been encountering a lot of people who quit the match for whatever reasons and while I get progress credit in the ranking, it doesn't count for my quest with Marunii and that's the only reason I endure these forced pvp matches.

I whispered to the person who quit the last one (I usually always start every match with a 'good luck' or a hello or something and then afterwards, win or lose, a 'thank you for the game'. This was my second match of the evening with the person (not consecutive). The first time, they beat me soundly. Good ol' RNG wasn't in my corner. The second match, I was winning and getting decent cards and suddenly, they quit. So I whispered to them and told them that when they quit like that, I don't get credit for a win with Marunni and their response was 'I know.' I asked them if that was why they did it, but they didn't bother to respond after that.

I don't think its fair that we get penalized for their choice, for whatever reason they made that choice. Give us credit for the quest with the win. I truly believe some people are doing it simply as a spiteful (I preferred a different word but chose to be a little more politic) move.

You already get your no-reward for a resigned game, if real life calls you'll probably be spending 10 minutes doing what needs to be done anyways?

I'm sure players will find a way to just resign spam trade tribute victories in the same bracket if it was any other way, people always abuse methods like this. I do think after a certain number of turns have passed though that the victor of the match should still get their tribute victory if the other person resigns however.

I have had people quit instantly. I've had people quit if I picked up a good card from the tavern within the first turn or 2.
            It's ridiculous.
            9/10 games opponents quit.
9/10 my games are usually bad rng against me. I don't quit. I try to win by skill not win by rng.
As frustrating as it is. I enjoy trying to beat the bad rng.
You do not get a 10 minute penalty if the game has gone on for more than 10 minutes.
I believe the 10 minute timer starts when you start the game? I could be wrong here

If you Quit, Forfeit, Resign, or for whatever reason leave a ToT dueling game. The player that leaves should get a penalty, zero reward, and it should count as a loss.
