So how impactful with that massive Occult Overload buff be?

It's a serious buff. 12,800 damage, up from 4,000.

My prediction is it gets nerfed. Yes it's only useful for certain builds and yes we really need anti-ball right now but wow that's one serious buff.

    For the record, in our logs VD hits for about 8.2k. So occult overload is now literally better than a full 5 piece set.

    It's mainly good in pvp in cryodiil against larger groups of enemies, maybe in deathmatch in BGs, or for trash mobs in pve. It could also be decent against some bosses in pve dungeons, but there's not a lot that have a lot of ads. It's a large damage number, but 4 meters isn't very high. Last I checked, you'd need to be right next to the guy that died in order to get hit. It could use a nerf to damage and a buff to range, 6 meters and 8k damage at most would be a sweet spot I'd guess.

    I was wondering how it would compare to VD. I'm legit surprised there's not more of an uproar over this.

    Could be the short range?

    We shall see but I'm expecting to see Occult Overload in my death recaps now lol, especially now that the other nodes were nerfed.

    Along with Plaguebreak this is going to absolutely disband the average ball zerg and server performance will be healthier for it. You may think it will buff a ball zerg but the thing is a decent ball zerg will have 3-4 DDs and wipe the zerg clump with direct damage alone regardless of any procs, PB, DCon, VD or Occult Overload etc. However, solo bombers currently lack the damage or tools to put down a crosshealing zerg unless you play a stamsorc with negate into Plaguebreak + Masters 2H. The only other thing that is still desperately needed in PVP is an AOE negate available to all classes via a set or generic skill line.

    The net effect of this change will be to make it easier to slaughter zergs. Ball groups will certainly see increased damage due to this, but they're also the only people that have a chance of surviving these bombs with their optimized heals and resists. And if it proves to be too obnoxious they can always add another healer or sacrifice some damage and add Sithis.

    Zergs on the other hand will now have to deal with the fact that a single person dying around them will result in an explosion of 20k damage.

    I was almost able to solo wipe a 20-30man zerg without VD on this patch. I shudder to think what I'll be able to do with this buff.

    It will make the DC or other condensing pulls stronger for sure. Don't forget the chain reaction effect on range.

    Is the CP something that will sell the new expansion? No nerfs for 1-3 months.

    Is the CP something everyone can access without the new expansion? Nerf in the next to weeks.

    Right so got hit with 25k Occult Overload tonight that procced off two guards. That's over 3/4 of my total health. Think this might be a tad bit broken. I really don't know who thought this was a good idea.

    Possibly the same people that thought putting a lead for the Oakensoul ring mythic in a scarce safebox was a good idea.

    They're both gonna be nerfed so it doesn't matter in the long run.
