A Dinner for the High Isles

Hail seabound travelers!

In a few days we get our papers and can sail for the High Isles.

As is tradition this one has cooked a celebratory dinner before the voyage.


Dinner for High Isles

Drinky:
Rose lemonade

Nibbles:
Spicy pickled cucumbers
Almonds
Anchovy Stuffed Olives

Main:
Cod and prawns cooked in capers, lemon, butter and cheap prosecco
Grilled tomatoes

Dessert:
Yogurt with chilli coconut caramel sauce

Fruit bowl:
Grapes

There are a few days left yes. Perhaps you are also cooking something nice too?

If so this one would very much like to see your delicious dinner also.

Looks delicious, Santie Claws! Capers, lemon and butter: do you caramelise the butter? Such an excellent idea to combine prawns with cod. Sammy must give it a go.

On the weekend, this one shall marinate a chunk of beef brisket, put it on slow cooker for boeuf bourguignon. Very Breton!

To be honest fellow khajiitkin this one cannot eat dairy products nor can she eat wheat - and some other things.

Hence the caramel is made with coconut cream and the yoghurt is a coconut one too.

The 'butter' was vege butter and the cod was cooked in tinfoil in the oven with the prawns, 'butter', wine, capers, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt and pepper.

There were also to be crabcakes but as it was a menu just for this one she decided she did not want to cook so much that she could not possibly then eat it all.

The beef sounds very delicious indeed!

Tinfoil baked fish! Very clever and saves up cleaning time. Vege butter is all good! Crab cakes - to quote Mirri “you can never have enough of that!”

What a wonderful idea, your meal looks AMAZING!
I don't have any plans to do anything quite on that scale.

I think I may roast some boneless chicken thighs, then mixed with sauteed shiitake mushrooms and orzo pasta. Simple but yummy. Add a glass of wine.
or I may just toss in a pizza and be done with it, depends how I feel that day

Speaking of which, I'm starting to feel like I'm losing my mind. We do get the new chapter tomorrow, right? This is the only post I can see on the first few pages that has marked the occasion at all, or even mentioned it, it seems like.

Just getting up to to go to market for the fresh fish and shellfish.

Ah alas this one did not see any - and it was the very first thing she looked for.

Nor many foodie furnishings either. The diggy oven is a splendid thing though!

This one had to mostly go with her instinct as to the things that might grow and might be cooked on a warm island sort of place.

For cooking purposes I like caper berries more (intensive taste), put them out at the end and add warm capers to the dish at the end. This way their distinct taste doesn't interfere with the fish. Have you ever tried caper berries, Santie?

Ah yes this one used pickled caper berries (chopped up) in the fishy dishy

The only way you can get them here is pickled in a jar.

This one did not use too many as she did not want to overwhelm the taste of the fish too much.

Awe I was hoping for fish recipes or more food. Most of my items slots go in my ESO kitchen in house too!
