I have been trying to log in for the past hour or so, but the eso64.exe game client continues to immediately crash even before loading the character selection screen. It was working fine yesterday.
I am running the Batehsda.net_Launcher. This is on Windows 10 Pro, version 21H2, build 19044.1682.
The only things that have changed on my system since yesterday when the game was working are that I have updated my HarvestMap addon and my internet crashed yesterday evening during a minor wind storm. Just in case that HarvestMap update was causing this issue ( even though addons do not even load until you load a character into the game and I haven't been able to reach the character selection screen), I uninstalled that addon completely. Uninstalling the addon did not resolve this problem.
Just in case there was some interference from one of my background apps (even though nothing has changed with those apps), I disabled most of my background apps. This has not resolved the problem.
I am not running a VPN, but just in case there was some interference I killed the service processes that my VPN client uses so that no parts of my VPN were running in the background at all. This also has not resolved the problem.
Even though my firewall app has not changed or updated since yesterday when the game was working, I set my firewall to learning mode. This did not resolve the problem. I then disabled my firewall app altogether. This did not resolve the problem.
Just on the off chance that this is an issue with my manual DNS, I changed my DNS servers. This did not resolve the problem. I then disabled my manual DNS servers and allowed my system to use my ISP default DNS servers. This did not resolve the problem.
At this point, I don't even know what to try other than perhaps reinstalling the game (which I really do not want to have to do if it can be avoided), but since the game didn't update last night, I can't imagine how there would be any changes to the game that would cause this unless some critical file(s) has become corrupted. That seems unlikely because the PTS is also crashing immediately in the same way and the Live and PTS versions of the game use completely different files in separate installation directories.
If anyone else has had this problem and can give me suggestions of what to try (other than reinstalling the game, which I will only take the time to do if I have no alternative), or if any official tech support peeps have any suggestions of what I could try (again, other than reinstalling), I would very much appreciate hearing those suggestions.
Thanks,
EntropicLynx
