Which role will my High Isle companions have?

General discussion about the new companions High Isle will provide! Are you looking forward to Templar & Sorc specific companions?

I will use both with different roles.

I will use both but in same role, just in different game content. Isobel will be my overland companion in melee DPS role and Ember will be my melee DPS for Dark Brotherhood/Thieves Guild type content. I'll be keeping Bastian as my World Boss tank and Mirri as my Dragon healer.

I will use Ember as DD.

Khajiit looks forward to proper hunting companion with Ember. When this one gets Isobel, she will serve the purpose of keeping Bastardian and Mirri company in the cheese sack in this one's pack.

I will use Isobel as Healer.

I love trying companion builds, so it's unlikely I'll stick to this plan for long, but this is what I'll be doing as soon as I get off the boat in High Isle.

Mirri - all-rounder unkillable tank/healer/DD.
Bastion - classic tank and buff bot.
Ember - AoE and DoT glass Cannon.
Isobel - healer... Maybe?

Isobel is the companion I'm most interested in. I prefer the heal over time healing she excels at (as companion skill order "rotations" mean burst heals are often used sub-optimally). Isobel has some interesting group buffs that might be worth building into instead tho... Currently I'm obsessed with getting 100% uptime on abilities, and she has 3 really good abilities that could be made to have near 100% uptime with enough quickened gear.

I will use both with different roles.

I'll set up Isobel as a tank and Ember as ranged DPS. (I currently have Bastian as a healer and Mirri as melee DPS.) Not sure how much I'll actively use each of them, since Bastian is my main character's wingman for questing and leveling is much more efficient with dedicated arena grinding. But I'll level both of them and at least have them available for doing what they do.

I am not interested in High Isles companions (but I use the Blackwood one(s))

I'm sticking with Mirri as an all rounder.

From my experience from the PTS, Isobel and Ember will be joining Bastian in the I'm not going to use you much pile.

Bastian - 1h/Sh, Heavy, Quickened, Tank
Mirri - 1h/Sh, Light, Quickened, Healer
Ember - Dual Wield, Medium, Shattering/Aggressive, DPS
Isobel - Two-Handed or Frost Staff, Medium, Quickened, DPS

I'm not a fan of ranged weapons because of the whole dodge roll bs. Ember and Isobel have more AOE abilities in their arsenal. Isobel has a gap closer, hopefully its more reliable than Mirri's Warp Strike which fails to cast more often than not. Bastian's chain does not count as it only pulls single target mobs to him. I plan to split them up with Ember out with my Sorcs, Nightblades, and Necromancers; while Isobel with my Templars, Wardens, and Dragon Knights.
