What, to you, is the superior mount type?

    Cats.

They run quiet and as a khajiit I can pretend that I have a GF, but she is very shy and does not speak.

I find senche have the smoothest running animation, followed by horses, so I tend to use those most. There's a bit of a bounce in wolves that I don't really like. I do love guar, especially the way they jump, and I use them as well, just don't have as many to choose from. Indriks are pretty neat. Camels, bears, heavyweights, nix-oxen...the animations are kinda janky.

Visually, I like senches and wolves the most, they look really cool and have nice animations, though they do feel heavy when you jump and land to the ground again. I think dwarven spiders have the smoothest motion, but I'm not a great fan of how they look, but they might be fun as a two-person mount, if/when those get released. Guars look cute when they jump, and have overall cute animations. I don't really like bears because I find their movement a bit dizzying.

The Felines have a good base model, nice variety (lion, panther, serval differ in more than just colour scheme), fluent movement and enjoyable sounds for movement and special moves.
The Wolves are next in line for me.

They completely botched the anatomy of their horses (WHY???), and sadly that carried over to the Cervines. Otherwise I'd like the horses and love the cervines (except some questionable choices for Indrik sounds...)

I just don't fancy the Morrowind creations (Guar, Kagouti, Nix-Ox) very much, they are fine as fauna there, but I don't feel a need to see them as mounts.

Camels and bears are OK, but their movement is a bit lumbering. That is fine and probably somewhat consistent with how it should be, but it doesn't make them preferred mounts in my book.

Most heavyweights I find just plain ugly. That gorilla-like "big shoulders, tiny hind quarters" is completely ridiculous in something serving as a mount. And doesn't look very good in any case. The Senche-rahts salvage it by having paws and wonderful heads/faces, the quasigriffs were one of the biggest disappointments in all my years of ESO.

Constructs I just find boring. For me, driving around in some fiddly-bit machine in a fantasy world is about as exciting as driving to work in my car each day. I liked the Dwemer as the "big, strange mystery" in TES: Morrowind, but having all that steampunk stuff actually working en masse, and being in use by characters is an element of ESO I ignore as much as possible. (I liked CWC, but that's another realm, not constructs running around in Tamriel.)

This. I have horses in game, yes, but don't use them often - because as a long-time horsewoman, I simply can't look at them in the game. Sad.

I actually like the indrik chirp. Reminds me of elk calves....

In a world full of fantasy, I prefer traditional values lol.
I'd pick any other type if they could actually attack, otherwise they're all bark, no bite.

I do like the lion mount tho, I just like lions overall, but I'll still stick to horse

    Heavyweights (Senche-rahts, Welwa, Quasigriffs)
    Senche-Raht specifically.

They are the smartest mount, they are not a dumb animal like all other creatures and combined with their strength out of all mounts they are likeliest to win if they all got into a fight, sure the standard Senche-Raht may lose to one of the more mystical mounts such as the Atronach Mounts or but when then you have the Cursebound Senche-Raht Darkfang, My wager is that mount would beat every other mount in a fight.

I don't like much the wording "superior". None is superior, it's just a matter of preferences.

Personally, I use horses only. I find some of the others nice, but somehow, I don't feel at ease using another type of animal as mount. Can't explain rationally why.

Most of the mounts are pretty cheesy. Horse especially. Their little legs are working overtime but the body never reflects the gait. The felines are smooth and graceful. They stretch out when running.

I like how quiet and low cats are. I like how the footsteps sound. Not sure whether that truly makes a difference in PvP, but maybe it does. On the other hand a friend uses one of those mounts with a bright red / orange glowing tail. It helps when you want to follow and you don't have the crown to go by.

Senches are my favorite, not the big ones though because the running animation with the beefy front legs and tiny back legs looks goofy. I was very happy to get the white lion in the daily reward, thanks again ZOS! :)

I didn’t think I’d like the Nix-ox but he has a smooth gait. My character sits up high like on an SUV too.

I only have one construct, the Dwarven Ebony Wolf from the Antiquities. I would love to have more but since they came from Crown crates I never got one. Hopefully that will change now that we have Seals.

I really like the smoothness in the running of the kitties. Second place for me personally is the wolves. I like to pick mounts to fit the aesthetics of the character. The only place I actually pick just for use preference is pvp- I have less issues getting stuck or awkward mount moments on my cats.

    Guar, guar guar!

And kagoutis are nice too. Like the meaner big brother of guars.

Quite unique to Elder Scrolls, good animation and model, cute as buttons, the sprint gesture is just great, and I love the slapping sound of their feet on the ground as they run.

I wish I could like equines in ESO but they just look too horrible for that.

Honourable mention to Arthropods, because I think they did a good job with them too. Sadly there aren't that many of them. Less so when you remove the dwemer/clockwork ones.

I think it's the horse tails that really bother me. They look like clubs.

I prefer horses but the faster you go, the jankier they look.

Canines make you bounce like a jockey on a race horse, which is ridiculous at faster speeds.

Heavyweights also look ridiculous at faster speeds.

    Camels ride weird to me.

    Everything else is whatever, really.
