ESO & Private Relay

I tried to download and install ESO on my recently reformatted Mac but it just hung on the launcher for literally hours.
This morning I thought I'd disable Private Relay and the launcher spring into life - the game runs fine.
Switch Private Relay back on and the launcher hangs or fails to load sections (news etc.)
However if I disable Private Relay, ensure the game up up to date and then enable Private Relay and launch the ESP app instead of the launcher it works fine.
Am I alone in suffering this annoying anomaly?
