Chromium Plating more rare?

Hello,

Is it me or is Chromium Platings become much more rare?
Been doing all the Jewelry Surveys I can find, very very few Chromium Platings....

Also, does anything non Vet drop purple jewelry?

dolmens can drop purple jewelry.

chromium is the same rarity as it always has been.

I am not sure I have ever got a gold plating from the crafting reward boxes, just sometimes I get two gold grains.

I only do jewelry dailies at max tier on 4 toons, though.

Seems its just a case of bad rng. I suggest you do the crafting daily jewelry writ (always at the highest tier, which is platinum) on more chars to improve your chances of getting more grains/platings.

I do the jewelry crafting quest every day....that is the writ, right?
Maybe I have some non de-buffable curse on me?

Last year, I was doing the daily writs with like 10 characters everyday and I used to get only 1 chromium plating (account wide) once every 2-3 weeks or so. I think you are not unlucky, it is simply a rare material to get as a drop.

The drop rate for a full Chromium plating is about 1.5% of the time (at a 25% chance of getting Chromium), so it's about 0.375%. So about once every 266 times you do jewelry writs. So you could expect just over 1 a year if you only do it on 1 character. If you do them on 18, you can expect one on average every 14 days.

The past half of the year ive had 2 platings with 10 toons so thats around 1 every 900 writ

I've averaged 1 in 467 overall (and that includes some data from before characters were fully leveled). Last two patches I've had about a 1.5% chance of a plating drop (across all types) and it's 25% for a chromium grain.

While getting them from daily crafting rewards is nice, you can also get them from refining jewelry mats as well. So farming jewelry nodes and of course surveys will help.

I max'd out my Jewelry extraction skill line.

One this that I found surprisingly helpful - Keen Eye: Jewelry - occasionally I would run by nodes, but the glow - really helps!

No, survey drops are 1 in 8, regardless of the level of daily writ you do.

It's pretty competitive. I have to do it late at night ....
