PCNA "Unable to connect to game server."

priestnall.andrewrwb17_ESO
Living in Japan currently and for the past 3 days; since last update I guess I've been getting CONSTANT disconnects; ping spikes from my usual 200ish to 999 after 3-4 mins activity at around 10PM JST... and its getting predictable and annoying *earlier yesterday was as playable. At this point I'm thinking... is this just me!?

Ah so its not just me... that's reassuring. Need to get on that then I guess. Maybe an acknowledgement that there IS an issue and an announcement that an investigation is currently underway.

"Unable to connect to game server. Please make sure you have a valid internet connection." Pretty sure I do.

Same. I live in Tokyo and since a few days ago, I guess 16-18th of November I have really bad lag spikes and sometimes I am booted from the server with "unable to connect" error. This is surprising, as before that time the game used to work quite smoothly. No software/hardware changes on my side, no changes in networking/security, all relevant ports still open, no lags in other games, even on EU servers it is stable although with high ping. Which leads me to assumption, it is server-side. Possibly, something with networking with japan, since we are both experiencing same issues.

Sadly, default troubleshooting does not help in this case. Flushed DNS, restarted modem/router, verified game files integrity, repaired the game, disabled addons - all of this has no effect. Network monitoring software does not detect any spikes in network activity during lags, no malware was found by antivirus. Surprisingly, the lags occur in small places like delves and battlegrounds, not even Cyrodiil, and not in prime time. @ZOS_BillE could you please suggest any other troubleshooting steps and investigate the issue? Perhaps the whole Japanese region is suffering from some connectivity issues. Thanks

@ZOS_BillE Let's say, my previous two times getting in contact with support were not pleasant. Firstly, the support replies with an automated message describing networking troubleshooting available on the website already. Upon inquiring to get contacted by a person, actually, the support does not even investigate the provided tracert and pathping files and acknowledges not being able to actually support save for those simple troubleshooting.

Are there any other steps or? Because I have done a complete Windows reinstallation with network reset but the problem persists, leading me to conclusion that it is server-side. All ports open, no malware, PC parameters holding the game on ultra, and 600+ Mbps on Speedtest with stable ping.

@ZOS_BillE well, you can look into 201017-001911. Despite the issue having been "escalated to the specialised team" I got the most generic answer of "we are working on the development and hope you are patient". That ticket got me to write a negative review on Steam for the first time in my life. What development? The game has been released as a full product since 2013. I hopped into the game in 2014 and as long as I remember Cyrodiil, it had lags but since 2020 it just got out of hand. Changing internet providers, computer rigs, geographical location does not change it. It doesn't matter if you open ports or do whatever the guideline suggests - it WILL lag in Cyrodiil. Just open up the logs of Cyrodiil chat to see what the majority of the players says.

Like many other players, I play for Cyrodiil mostly because personally for me PvE end content is pretty bland and boring. Where is the promised fast-paced PvP? No wonder Cyro population barely has full posts on weekends BCS of this performance. ZOS is literally losing players to competitors, not they do not produce new content but because they cannot deliver performance on the 8th year of existence of their game. What a shame because the game is amazing.

I am not even sure if there is any point in opening a new ticket. Tell me, what I as a player should do if I cannot use the product I paid the money for in a way I want and in a way the product is intended to be used? Or how else can I address these lags if I am pretty much sure the issues are not on my side or on my ISP one's?
