Load screens = 40% of my 'play' time just now.....

has anything changed in the past week to the game that would make logging in and out from the character screen take so long now? doing writs on alts the past week were taking so much of my time that i decided to time my load times to the character screen at initial log in and then after the character screen when i chose who to play. well, today i saw that that the loading screens were 40% of my time. so, to put in perspective: out of 60 mins.....i had 24 mins of staring at a load screen's art work. this 40% does not represent the over 2 mins log in to the actual character screen when i first started to play. this is definitely not acceptable.

They promised reduced load screens, but actually delivered longer ones. Plus there's a lot of "Error: Unable to connect to server" after waiting long periods to load in that didn't used to happen.

Really? Load screen time has been reduced for me - drastically in some situations but noticeably across the board, both PC and Xbox.

Are you running ESO on SSD or a standard HDD?

An add-on may be causing issues with your character screen loading. We have two help articles linked below that go over how to uninstall or remove add-ons that you're currently using. Running a repair through the launcher can help as well.
