StamDK where art thou? (Help thread not a buff request)

Well a little about me: I’ve always ‘mained’ plars and DKs and continue to do so apart from some incursions into sorcs and a lonely stamcro.

I’m happy-ish with my plars or at least I know where I’m standing.

Then I dusted my stamDK and.....oh dear that was tough. I used to love the class and now it’s soooooo boring. My DoTs don’t seem to hurt as much and dizzy is boring me to death.

In a nutshell it feels truly underwhelming especially if I remind myself that I’m actually enjoying using a magDK: it feels more incisive, less predictable and versatile....I even like using impulse on my inferno staff!!! 😬

I shall get to the point now.

1. At the moment I’m using an odd mix of gear: fury, Malacath and sheer venom and I’m well aware an update is needed: what do you guys use?

2. Any of you introducing any changes to the classic DK style? I’m open to ideas. An example could be Kuroyuki power slam build!

My stamDK only working very well on Cyro, Im not afraid to start fight vs 3 opponents, when at battleground (im stuck on high MMR) they just dont have any chance vs sorc or templar. (i mean it's not that good and you burn out of resources too quickly)

Actually i use Pariah + Titanborn + balogh monster set. I have fun with this set up.
Pariah works very nicely with Titanborn. And the Titanborn gives you a chance to kill your opponent if you're exhausted.

The most important combo you can do is Shield charge + Talons. Double CC that allows you to shorten your distance and burn your opponent out of stamina.

I do not know by what miracle, in the current bulids you can find on google, I did not find a single such combo.

Some time ago I used Leviathan plus Briarheart. Also a nice set up, either on PVP or PVE. But on pvp it works great as I changed at least 2 traits on shift rings (speed).Crazy if you turn up Corrosive armor (optional) and using Cleave + Titanic Cleave from DS Arena.

And about Cyro, if starting lagging i change Dizzy for Cleave. Its not that high dmg, but its better than 3s delay with Dizzy hit

I dont think Fury are still that good like before. Sounds like great reset when you achieve 20 sticks. but actually you will be dead, before you get that many hits. Not with actual high burst damage meta. you can achieve a better and clearer result with Cleaver alchemist.

Diamond's Victory should working very well with mag or stamDK.
Eternal Vigor still working if you are ayonning with poor sustain.

But generally yes. It feels like StamDK stands out from other classes. Currently I only play it because it's my main since 2016 and has the fastest horse in Cyro or Open world

with this low MMR you can do what you want. Try use it vs high mmr where you mostly play vs guys with 2000CP, not vs 200-500. Who barely knows the game.

It is good in higher MMR too. I rolled top MMR 2/4man premades on this char, it is not ideal due to low armor, but not bad either as it has good utility and damage.

Check out Kuroyuki's "Slam" build. Instead of dizzying spam he uses power slam burst. Pretty underrated skill imho and I was glad to see people using it.

You can also try azureblight, the damage got nerfed but it proc from rapid strikes.
A well timed azureblight proc+take Flight+Steel tornado is deadly

It's on par with my stamden and stamcro if not better, for under lvl50 battleground that is.

Yeah, I use Stone Giant. Why? To get the Minor Brutality, to run Shuffle instead of Fragmented Shield and to use so little magicka, I use a Physical Resistance + Health + Stamina potion. I'm actually not that fond of the Vateshran 2H and switched it out for a Precise Pariah Maul yesterday, giving me 35% crit on the front bar. I like it. Good Rally healing. Resistances are through the roof. I'm not a top notch player, but I had a nice 1vX in IC yesterday. I feel DK needs time to do it's thing. To DOT people up, then leap. Being this tanky gives you that time. I honestly like Stone Giant well enough too. Once people are dotted up, they may outrange you, but you keep softening them up with that spammable, waiting for the right moment to leap. Sometimes using Stone Giant with Corrosive surprises people. They just don't expect that. I don't expect to win duels against good players with this build, but I like it for open world.

I am not happy without speed, hence all Swift and Coward's Gear. Good movement is what makes a build fun to me, regardless of class. I'm also happy to have switched from Bloodspawn to Balorgh. DK sustains from ultimates, but my instinct is to withhold ultimates and use them strategically. The amount of sustain in this build allows you to that and capitalize on your leaps with Balorgh. Given the pen from that set, Spell Wall might actually make the better back bar ultimate, come to think of it, although I like the higher cost of Corrosive for the resource return sometimes.

This is also my main PvE character at present, which is why the blue CPs are invested into all damage and crit and why my set choices are, perhaps, so defensive. It's also why I use Reverse Slice. If purely for PvP, I'd probably select Executioner.
