I have recently started working on a housing project for a dueling arena in the varlaisvea ayleid ruins home. I designed it so you'd start at the top of the home and after each duel the floor would give out and you'd fall down, progressing onto the next floor. It was going to be a best of 3-out-of-5 sort of dueling set up, so with a total of 5 levels. It was coming along really well but then I decided to test it.
After putting 100's of thousands of gold & mats into alinor ball room floors, I learned that ground-targeted abilities don't work if you've built a structure too high up, past an undisclosed certain point. Why are furnishings, especially ones that are labeled as platforms, not enough as far as ground-targeted abilities go? I'm really frustrated by this. I feel like I've wasted my time, my gold, my crowns & real money, and my creativity. I even feel a little disrespected--to have been given these housing tools years ago and made to believe just about anything was possible, only to find out that there are weird limits like this that the game never warned me of.
This was the design I had in mind when I bought this wicked expensive house and the matching recovery skyshard thing. Now I'm stuck with an incomplete mess that doesn't work and that I've lost all motivation to finish. I cannot ask players to duel here if their skills don't work. I just wanted to design a fun area for pvp. I would not have bought this house if I had known about this strange limitation.
I guess I'd like to end this post with a request. I would like a zos community manager to ask another developer, one who is familiar with housing, if this ground-targeting problem can be fixed within the next patch or two. And I would like to hear that answer. I really just want to know that my problem with this system has been heard & passed along.
