Skills that cost nothing shouldnt be affected by negate

Meditate, mend wounds, warden netch, nb mark, templar restoring aura, necro harvest, siphon, tether – there's no reason why these skills are blocked by negate. These skills cost no resources to cast so it shouldnt be affected by Negate Magic skill and its morphs.

P.S. Not a "nerf sorc!" thread, just current negate has no sense

It has nothing to do with the cost of a skill but its source. Anything that has an attributed cost associated with ultimate and Magicka is prevented or removed by a negate.

It's also not nessicary to nerf as players can just walk outside of the negate and can recast. Necro harvest for instance also can provide major protection and a pretty substantive hot. It would disproportionately buff necros to make this skill immune to negates.

Stamina healing is already very limited in this game and this is one of the few things that balance that. We don't need Magicka heals going through negates because they don't cost anything to cast.

Negate is a globe of magic suppression. While the silencing effect logically possibly might not impact your ability to cast no-cost skills, the spell itself is suppressed by the globe as seen in the removal of ground AOEs. Given that the most common morph in PVP is Suppression Field, its again clear that its suppressing all spell-casting within its area.

And yes, Negate is intended as an anti-magic AOE ultimate and, no, there's no equivalent anti-stamina AOE ultimate. This disparity comes up on occasion, at which point I like to point out that organized raids will stack both of them during their ulti-dump and then no one gets any counterplay-healing at all unless you gtfo immediately.

An effect can still be considered magical if it has zero magicka cost.

If the ability has no cost it is considered a magical ability and is thus negated. In fact some of the stamina abilities are magical attacks like Imbue Weapon and I feel like Negate should effect those as well, but they don't because of balance reasons. Negate also effects health cost abilities which makes sense since that sort of stuff is blood magic, but I have noticed Blood Frenzy remains on even while standing in a Negate field. Not sure why but it could be a UI bug as I've seen that ability do other weird things when toggled in Cyrodiil.

I wish Negate would automatically toggle off Frenzy. That combo has gotten me killed a few times while fighting Nahvi’s Eternal Servant.

As for zero cost skills, I agree with the OP. Who is to say if a Betty Netch costs zero Magicka? It could just as well cost zero stamina or zero health, it’s simply zero cost. The same logic applies to things like Mystic Siphon and Elemental Drain. Basically if you can cast it when your Magicka bar is empty then IMO it doesn’t require that resource and shouldn’t be affected by negate.
