Why is the common table slanting?

You would think that the most common basic sort of general use table would be flat, no? And slanting tables, as for drafting, should be the other way and not lengthwise. The prupose of this table baffles me.

Why does that matter? I was looking into what style(s) would best complement the basic vrafying stations and not make them look out-of-place or shabby by comparison. Some of the “common” furnishings look closest to be, but I had hoped for a more, well, normal table and maybe some shelves. Other than that, I guess Imperial furnishings are closest as I don’t see that grayish wood in other styles. 🤔

Turn it so its level and sink the long legs into the floor. Then it is a " Common Table, Leveled"

Tea table, carved, from the furniture vendors might suit your needs. There's also nord table, square and nord table, braced, both pretty basic natural wood tables.

That is an idea! And it might be a good solution if one does not mind the angle of the table legs or has someway to hide them!

A good suggestion and I bought one to compare and found the wood quite a bit darker and, in fact, the Imperial furnishings are nearly the match that I thought they might be either, being both darker, rougher and grayer — but then on looking again, so is the common table, so I would not have been happy with it after all even were it level instead of slanting.

Of course, I don’t expect everything to match exactly and that might not even be most interesting, but only that they should look crafted in a similar fashion — that they fit in the same room — and for sure different people will have different opinions on what works well together. I am finding the texture of the wood to be as important as the hue to my eyes.

After trying a variety of furnishings, I’ve found that I like the look of the simple Dark Elf, Breton and Nord furnishings, at least the ones that have smoother wood texture. :)

Thank you all for the help and insights!

This is what I do in the crafting area of one of my houses. The crafting tables sit in niches in the basement and I use the table to fill the gap between the outer wall and pillars that define the niche.

I also use the slant in market areas I have built to display items that are in boxes such as fruit or fresh fish.
