If the date change was so they don't have to compete with possible news coverage of more seditionists causing trouble, I think a fair few of us Americanstans would prefer to switch that off to tune in to a livestream reveal for a fun game instead. Just saying. :s

Genuinely curious, why does an inauguration in the U.S. delay a video game company releasing information the next day? Is the information/reveal not finished and you need more time? Will everyone be in D.C. at that time? Will the inauguration overshadow the reveal? I'm not upset, it's only a week, just honestly curious as to what one has to do with the other.

Their head office is not far from the US capital, so presumably even though they are working from home, most employees also live in the area. Probably postponed out of an abundance of concern for their employees.

Was not aware they were based in D.C. that makes sense if they are I the same city

I'm not from the US not even from an English country, but even I are aware of the chaotic that politic state are in the US, then isn't a surprise that zos has taken this choose.

Political chaos shouldn't affect a game unless as pointed out in an earlier post they are based in the same city and wish to protect their associates. Which makes perfect sense, was information I didn't know(hence why I asked) and was kindly provided to me.

More 6 days to hear how the next chapter will be awesome, but actually it will be the second "Dark Heart of Skyrim" with many missed opportunities and the third "Season of the Dragon" with nostalgia-hype stuff? 🤔 Well, it is not critical at all.

This indeed begs the question if the PTS and the update will be postponed as well. To stay on track, the PTS would have had to start at the 25th. Is this obsolete now?

PTS (and the actual Update release date) will very likely postponed by a week (PTS to Jan 27 or later, DLC to around March 15-ish?), for sure. That said, it hasn't been officially announced yet, so no harm, no foul. Any potential release dates posted here are just speculation until the actual announcement.

They've stated it's for safety reasons, though. There's no question after last week that that's an entirely legitimate concern. Why would they lie and say they haven't had time to prepare? You know stuff like that actually has an impact on a business?

While i understand the reasoning and have no problem waiting a week, i still have a few question

Arent they all working from home?
Woulnt the stream be from their home like pretty much every stream since march/april?
If so wouln't they be in security in their own home?

I personnaly dont really follow the us news that much(i only know there was a riot at the capitol last week) is the situation so dire that people may not even be secure in their homes?

Stay safe all of you my southern neighbour!😇
I hope that the situation do not explode in any way
And ill be happy to see you guys on the 26 for the stream😁

Who knows what may happen? I haven’t heard that there’s been more rioting since but it’s sensible to take extra precautions. Hopefully, people will be safe in their homes, yes, hopefully everyone will be safe, but who can say what may happen or if power will be effected or any number of other things. :frowning:

If they're streaming, they can't focus on what's happening outside their homes. That could be dangerous if any trouble surrounding the inauguration, like more riots, spreads to their neighborhoods. No one KNOWS what's going to happen, but what's already happened has literally killed people. It would be awful if anything tragic happened to ZOS employees because they were concentrating on streaming and couldn't keep an eye on the local news so they knew to go somewhere else to be safe. ZOS is being cautious so people can stay informed and stay safe.

Short version is, human life will always be more important than anyone's desire to get their video game news a few days earlier.

I do wish ZOS had been more open about it being a safety issue, though, instead of just sticking it in a Twitter reply to one person that many will never read.

Another thing that is really starting to wear thin, is the constant stream of world shaking calamities infesting ESO Tamriel on basically daily basis. Back before these yearly stories were a thing, when Dark Brotherhood and Thieves guild were the hot new stuff, and most of us were still busy with Wrothgar, we had stories with more sensible scope. Local issues, things not having godlike beings trying to destroy or conquer the world. Now ESO is turning into a version of Marvel New York. If it aint an alien invasion, or some sort of demonic cataclysm happening, then it has to be mythological gods trashing the city on a weekly basis. If a month passes in that town without at least one world ending event taking place, then there is something seriously wrong with reality itself. And ESO is starting to paint a similar picture about Tamriel.

another guild/cult/order that you need to help to prevent the entire existence destruction from a suddenly appeared enemy?

This is an amazing crown giveaway during the event, but will having everyone participate in twitch chat make it impossible to read? And are they doing this to make sure everyone watches for the whole stream (not just first 15 minutes to get the pet and crown crate)?

Created a new Twitch account so my second ESO account can have the frog pet, too. Wanted to link my new twitch account to the ESO account. ESO: the account System is under maintenance. Until 1 hour after the stream has started.

    Like, really???

Notification about the maintenance was there for quite some time. Also, I'm not sure, but you may be able to link accounts after getting the drop and claim the drop after that

Hopefully. I had to work a lot the last days so I didn't visit the forums earlier. Still, in my opinion the timing is awful.

Hey folks, store and account maintenance is now complete, so you should now be able to link your accounts to earn drops.

If you're unable to link your Twitch and ESO accounts before the end of the stream, you can contact Customer Support at help.elderscrollsonline.com for assistance.
