can not learn nirnhoned trait from nirn items

A mate made me 3 items of nirnohned for me to learn, the toon is lvl 50 in crafting, has top levels in all the crafting yet these pieces do not come up with the trait as learnable. Can someone give me a hint as to what I might be missing?

You might want to post a screenshot, @blktauna, so we can see what you're trying to do.

Remember to select the correct crafting table for the type of gear you're attempting to research ... this is the issue most players have when first starting out:

Clothing Table - Light, Medium Armor
Blacksmith Table - Heavy Armor and Metal Weapons
Woodworking Table - Staves, Bows, and Shields

Reconstructed and transmuted items are bound to account, @Ackwalan ... so those items can not be sent from their mate.

These are lvl 1 plain items. I have an opening on metalworking for research. The dagger, for example, is in the crafter's inventory. When I go to research the dagger, the nirn trait still has the lock on.

I successfully learned the nirn trait from the piece given at the end of the Craglorn quest.

Hi

You probably know this already, but you cannot research two traits on the same item at the same time. This has caught me out a couple of times

If none of the above suggestions apply, @blktauna & it is showing as 'locked', you need to unlock the item before you can research it.

I hope that solves it.

Well I can learn two traits at a time because skill point but yes people I win the dumbarse award here...
they were locked

the queue to laugh forms on the right...

Better to have it locked than accidentally decon it or something for sure.

Glad you solved your problem, we've all been there.

Here's an example of what I ment in my earlier post about not being able to research two traits on the same item at the same time.. You cannot research both Devines and Training on an Axe at the same time even if you have all passives unlocked.
