If actually being grouped is the culprit, then they need to figure out what part of the code is doing it and fix/remove it.
My prediction is the tests will do very little or even nothing to reduce lag but I could be wrong.

I don't know that this is really a great long term solution as it makes it very hard for players to feel like they're having an impact when they are solo or in a small group as they can't contribute any healing or support to their allies, so something will have to be figured out for that in the long term but to me this has been one of the most productive tests we've seen so far. Plus, it doesn't involve gutting the core gameplay mechanics to work.
