How do I switch my account to Steam

I used to play this game directly through the PC server. I haven't played for a year or so and then decided I would start playing again, so there was an option to link account through Steam, which I did.

But in Steam, it still doesn't show I own the game. Do I have to buy the game AGAIN in order to play it over Steam, or is there some shortcut to fix this so I can actually play the game and just add the DLC afterwards?
Clueless, but willing to learn.

There's no real reason to use steam, unless you originally bought it throguh there.Steam has more login issues, uses more ram/cpu cause steam has to run.I don't think anything transfers,it's a separate new account.

There is no real benefit to having an ESO game locked into Steam and only problems can and will occur such as not being able to play ESO when most everyone else can. While there has not been a big issue recently, it is asking for trouble as the login from Steam has been down numerous times and it usually takes hours to half a day to remedy.

If that is how you like to roll then this link provides your official answer.

Also be aware that steam will keep a part of the revenue, so basically you contribute less to the health of the game.
