Light effects going through ceiling / floor

I just got a very nice chandelier from an antiquity lead. I put it in my dining room, and it fills the room with a very pleasant bluish glow. The problem is that it bleeds through the ceiling, and my reading room on the floor above also has a bluish glow. I can also see specific areas, like where the floor meets the wall, where the glow is bleeding through.

In this case I don't mind it at all. But I can see other circumstances where I may not want an effect I put in one room to invade another. Especially a room a floor above or below.

Please, is there anyway this can be fixed?
