Suppose something like a wall furnishings -- or even an entire house -- starts out all brand new and shiny.
But you want a more rugged or even dilapidated look.
Break out your catapult and start smashing! At 25% health marks things start to look worn down.
If you overdo it, craft yourself some Masonry Repair Kits and patch them up.
No need to make versions of the same type of furnishing or house for a new / old look.
