Thieves' Oasis 700/700 finished project - "Thieves Guild Retreat"

Hi all, I finished decorating the Thieves' Oasis house, although it's far from perfect since it looks quite unfinished to me. I was really frustrated by the 700 slot limit, which meant that most areas of the house have to be decorated really sparsely with barely any items to avoid a sense of emptiness. You'll see a lot of examples of 'tokenism' such as placing a single book on a table and pretending 'Ok this is totally a library desk now, please go with it' Or 'Here's a single fan on the table, pretend she keeps the combs, perfumes and jewellery in the drawers' :grimace:

Anyway, I think there are already tons of posts about how disappointing and frustrating the furnishing limits are... So without further ado, here's my 'Thieves Guild Retreat'

Exterior:
I loved the multi-level layout of this house, and the accessible roofs bring so much of that Redguard/Abah's Landing vibe!

Here's a monkey whose name is 'ubA' for legal reasons. Sadly his handsome thief friend 'niddalA' wasn't home.
Interior 1:
Having two separate buildings was a lot of fun, I think it was a great idea here and in Forgemaster Falls as well! I was also really happy to see the detailed interior textures.

The Guild Master gets their own room, rookie rogues and intermediate thieves have to slum it in the shared dorms

'This is where we'd have a feast, if I had slots for food and cutlery' :no_mouth:
Interior 2:
One of the buildings is set up as a living space, while the other houses more professional functions such as the treasure room (I have no doubt everyone who buys this house will put some treasures in it some way or another!)

'Praise Vivec! You were there to stop Alexandra Conele from capturing the Coral Heart' Yesss Tythis, I know. My bank please...? :expressionless:

'Skooma den? What skooma den? This is an erm... inhalatory Sauna. Cutting edge stuff, truly groundbreaking, you wouldn't have heard of it.'
Ruins area:
Seeing this Yokudan style in a house is so great! The layout and those huge statues really emphasise the grandeur of the architecture (plus a huge win for fans of Egypt)!

'This is absolutely not a hidden entrance to an underground passage through the tombs for smuggling relics and other 'lost and found' items to increase the profits of the Thieves Guild of this Association of Upstanding Citizens, no Sir Iron Wheel, no sir!' :innocent:

Thanks a lot for reading if you've made it this far!!! Almost the entirety of the back ruins had to be left empty due to item limit issues, so there's not much there. But overall I'm happy with my purchase and a special shout out to the awesome new Redguard fence item! Also, who wore it better - Nuzimeh or me??? Vote and the loser gets her hair torched. Thanks all, and have a nice weekend!!!

Love it @bluebird - beautifully realized! Yes, the Egypt part got me too - I've been a frustrated Egyptologist since college.... specifically the Amarna period.

I like it very lush compared to what I’m coming up with.

You did great, even with the given limitations. With such large places, I am tempted to seal off certain parts of the house, to properly decorate others that I like. Some people closed the Psijic cathedral to decorate the exterior better. Sometimes, you need to make such choices!

I think the Oasis has some flaws, despite its obvious merits. One is, the "town" and dust storm blocks the view of the ruins, I would have placed the town somewhere behind or aside the ruins. Second, there is no underground tunnel or area, a basement for the buildings or a tomb in the ruins. Third, the inside does not match the outside, and the rooms are just large spaces, with no or little privacy. This is a problem with most houses, it is hard to have proper rooms.
I am happy that already have enough manors and am not tempted to buy this at all. I am already thinking about the houses offered in Greymoor, and am hoping for a top quality Solitude house.

Yeah, you're right, it definitely feels far too large if people don't block off whole sections... which of course feels terrible, because we paid for the whole thing and we could do so much with the remaining spaces too, but... limits. :grimace:

It is indeed less of a thieves den, and more like a desert town or outpost. But the dust storm isn't that bad imo, since it's not permanent, at least the weather was really sunny and clear when I was building and taking screenshots.

If you're looking forward to Solitude houses, you can check them out on the PTS right now! They added Proudspire Manor which will probably suit your needs! And the new Vampire house in Blackreach allegedly has a secret passage, although it's currently quite bugged on the PTS missing an entire exterior section so I wasn't able to confirm. I hope you'll find some houses to be excited for, even if the Thieves Oasis disappointed you.
