Give us a good castle

Dear ESO, I NEED a castle that looks like this in my life. Including the bats! Do it right and I will buy it on BOTH my accounts! Do NOT fail me this time!

What do I mean by "right?"

1. This style in the picture.
2. BATS included!
3. Day/night toggle at last!
4. 24 player/700 item slot
5. Sized so that I can ACTUALLY fully decorate both the indoors and outdoors.

That's the bare minimum. Now for the OTHER things I'd also really LIKE to see.
6. a small graveyard.
7. a small chapel.
8. OR an actual crypt underground.
9. Did I mention bats wheeling overhead outside and clusters of PLACEABLE bats to put wherever I want?
10. New tombstones and crypts/coffins!
11. MORE Gargoyle statues!
12. Placeable GHOSTS!
13. 13. Spooky art paintings to hang on the walls!

I'm not sold on the exterior of the place and honestly after Elsweyr I would really like something that ISN'T crumbling and ancient in appearance. But the interior of Proudspire is indeed pretty neat!

I'm sure they will not simply copy the Proudspire from Skyrim, but if they are to release it in ESO, I hope the devs will improve the design, place the manor into a courtyard and design an elegant architecture! But I am afraid that we will get to much of the bulky, rough Nord style in Solitude.

There is a wing in the Topal academy in S. Elsweyr which has some unique features with gothic arches, which I hope to see in Solitude!

    I want this badly!

I'd especially like it if it was an outright vampire castle where it was night all the time. Werewolves got Hunter's Glade where it's perma-dusk, but vampires are still without a house themed to them. Wraithhome is more necromancer/daedra themed than vampire and it's weirdly bright in there.

    WTB creepy gothic vampire castle!

Seriously ZOS? This was NOT what I wanted, whatever this ugly monstrosity may be. I do not want a golden version of Wrathhome in a cave. I want the medieval castles you've SHOWN us in the new chapter. And I want a day/night toggle. Easy peasy. Not only that, I do NOT want yet ANOTHER gigantic home I can't possibly reasonably decorate in the 700 item limit you've told us is probably never going to change.

If THIS is "the vampire home" we're getting... I am NOT impressed.

Another monster house with only 700 slots? >.> For an incredibly amount of crowns?

There have been people asking for an evil gothic mansion and housing options for years now. It may not be your thing but I love that house. The problem is all the area’s with stereotypical castles are in Breton and it’s all been filled in. Of the areas left only cyrodil might offer a castle or Roman style fort to satisfy you. Skyrim might but it could just as well be a dwarven manse or other weird things so keep your expectations low in the future for this type of home. Not saying it’s never happening ever just less likely.

Let’s see what remains for more stereotypical homes. Cyrodil and central Skyrim. Next year is either black marsh or cyrodil. We’ll probably get some nice hints dropped in the chapter if we pay attention closely. So if black marsh is next this is what to expect black marsh 2021 > cyrodil 2022 > hammerfell 2023. Then after this it’s a bit of a mystery we have a few areas left but I feel Ashland’s if telvani would be too similar to previous redguard so no Morrowind stuff so Skyrim central 2024 > Morrowind 2025 > Black marsh left overs 2026> hammerfell leftovers 2027 > cyrodil left overs 2028 > central elsewhere 2029 > a few left over areas like sloths ect.

I actually dont, the biggest problem with houses lately is the 700 limit being to small, if they are not going to up the limit then having fewer rooms is better.

Yeah i can definitely see that being a problem I don’t really know much about housing. I actually have never decorated a house I would usually just sell the recipes I got, but now with this new vampire house I want to get into furnishing. I want to make a very gothic vampire like house, which is why I was hoping there would be more rooms so I can have a lot of themed areas like a bedroom trophy room crafting room etc.

Very true, I believe they will add plenty to find in the Greymoor chapter probably half nord half vampire.. well I hope vampire had a lot lol. I’ll probably end up purchasing the furnished version of the bastion sanguine(vampire castle) so that way I get a lot of the furniture right then and there

Thank you for this! The first home shown looks much more promising tho I suspect it's on the order of the townhouse in Summerset and looks like it has no outdoor space? So it's probably a 12 player limit which will be disappointing as well. If it were 24 I'd be pretty happy.

As to the enormous Blackreach place... it's prettier inside at least. But far too huge and cavernous to be able to do it justice when its time to decorate.

Let's face it, it's just another cavernous space they hope guild leaders will buy, to put their endless attuned crafting stations in.

Whereas, what most people would, almost certainly, prefer is a regular house, with normal sized rooms, built in a castle type (crenalated and/or with towers and stuff) style.

Especially if it was in the Large category, in terms of square footage, but had a Manor/Notable furniture limit.

This kind of thing springs to mind as (just about) doable on only 700 slots:

    https://www.alamy.com/a-house-designed-like-a-mini-castle-is-known-locally-as-the-cardboard-castle-on-the-banks-of-the-river-thames-at-marlow-in-buckinghamshire-britain-image224847301.html

Wouldn't have to be so obviously fake, on the outside, but you get what I mean.

    It's actually not, though.

Big, cavernous interiors, with hardly any real rooms, are the worst to decorate on a furnishing slot budget and are also totally unconvincing as homes/businesses/regular meeting places.

What we actually need, in this regard, are more houses in the Large category, with normal sized rooms, which lead off a central hallway and a landing upstairs (so, with a convincing layout, in other words), but with a 700 slot limit.

Then (and only then, really) larger houses could be not only manageable, but even enjoyable to decorate.

The exteriors can still be larger, as you can always leave them pretty much as-is.

But, huge, cavernous interiors are just not feasible, unless you really are just going to use them as a crafting station factory.

    Not really

The original game has ruins - ayleid, dwemer, other - which is lore appropriate. But people don't generally live in them. With a few exceptions - Shadowfen's Argonians and the Khajiit.

With Morrowind though, ZO kicked lore in the nads and gave us the hideously ugly Telvanni tumor towers, which rather than being mushroom pods with twisty bridges, are now flesh atronach skinned Velothi tower ruins.

Continued with Summerset and it's bizarre hash of multiple architectural styles, which includes the jewel of Summerset - Alinor - having broken tiles in the street approaching the palace. Which is totally unbelievable.

And again with Elsweyr - though that's at least in line with what we see in the base game.

Point is - the unkempt / poorly maintained thing has become the norm in DLCs but is the exception to the rule in the base game.

well in normal times that would hold true, but the timeline we are in is full of strife in many ways, the 3 banners war, deadric anchors everywhere, abyssal geysers in summerset, rampant deadric and bandit activity virtually everywhere you look. So its not a huge stretch that even the most prim and proper of peoples that their city's and towns have fallen into a unkempt state probably focusing more on making sure everything is habitable first and look are secondary. Tho i do agree with the telvanni houses tho, i really like the look in tes 3 telvanni housing and the fort you can grow if you are a high ranking member of the telvanni, but in eso i have no idea what they were thinking, its looks more like hand packed clumpy mold then one huge mushroom grown to the shape desired by the mage/constructor

Clearly, ZOS was thinking that the Telvanni mages were not that good at making fugus towers 800 years in the past. Whether you like that decision, or not, it is certain that the Telvanni feel they can do better. They obviously did better by the time the Nerevarine appears.

I don't really see it as a Wraithhome clone. For starters, I don't see any pools of water, azure plasm, or anything (Except lava? But you can't even get to it or you'd end up falling to death). I mostly saw Wraithhome as an interior home (Although it did have that open ceiling, which was nice). Unfortunately, this new home doesn't seem to have any balconies, or additional rooms apart from the circular room. It does give us a nice backyard, as well as a grand courtyard, which is something I was hoping that Wraithhome would provide.

Both Wraithhome and this new home are different in a variety of ways. I almost saw this one as a darker clone of Grand Psijic Villa, actually, rather than a Wraithhome clone. I'm not sure which one to go with, but this is promising in terms of design. The exterior of the home is gorgeous, but the interior could have some more rooms. Maybe shorten the grand hall a little bit in favor of more rooms? Add a swimmable pool to the backyard or something too, and this place would be perfect.

The hall is just far too big for me to figure out what I want to do with it at the moment. With Wraithhome and Psijic Villa, I had ideas of what I wanted to do with them and how I can make them Daedric-themed homes. With this one though, I cannot seem to think of how I can apply the same kind of atmosphere with the lack of rooms. I might just have to make the kitchen an outdoor patio or something, but my library? I intend to make that a mainstay anytime I switch homes. Same goes for my council room, although I am not sure how I can achieve both with this home. Maybe I'll put them in the same room this time?

Either way, they're really outdoing themselves with this chapter. Yes, there are still some things that could be better, but I'm definitely going to be getting this one.
