Suggestion for developers: Embrance jumping mechanics

As an indie game developer, I have noticed a mechanic that has been left totally unused, jumping.

MMORPGs like Guildwars have embraced the jumping puzzles. With the context of ESO,
climbing has been part of the self-directed exploration.
You are probably aware videos of people clitching out of bounds to explore and climbing to Red Mountain
(yes, I have managed that). Mostly the intention by devs has been plug all of the holes, which has created
some are really limiting invisible boundaries at times.

Example: There exists a mountain between Rift Wisplight Glen and Fort Greenwall. The player can reach
the place with an easy jump. In the middle of the mountain top exists a rune as dev placed pat to the back.
The added bonus with these kinds of locations is that roleplayers could use these places without
fear of getting trolled. Likewise, the upper area of Fort Greenwall can be reached from this mountain,
but it is just a shallow prop. It would be nice to see some minor development in the old areas,
either part of the upcoming artifact hunt or otherwise.

Climbing related gameplay would be rather easy to develop. It would breathe new life to old areas as it opens
up previously inaccessible locations. It would provide extra service for roleplayers who make their
own content anyway and open up new possibilities to new line achievements.

Great idea but the jumping mechanic itself needs some serious love before anything like this should be added. It's one of the more broken aspects of the game imo. It most likely has something to do with the old engine and server desync/lag so highly doubt that'll ever happen. Also, if the marketing trolls can't scheme up a way to over-charge for it in the frown store, there's definitely no chance we'll see anything like this.

Hoping that ZOS will use bother the grappling hook and the upcoming Antiquities skill line to massively enhance the exploratory aspect of the game...

I enjoyed finding and working my way around the little grappling hook area in Southern Elsweyr as much as I did working through one of the delves and a ton more than the mad bloody monk.

I would rather Antiquities was more about exploring than a couple of very meh puzzle games... I’d rather delves had many many more exploration opportunities like the fire strangler thing in the one delve in Murkmire. That was a great little thing to stumble onto.

If it proved popular it would also provide developers with a rationale for updating and improving the original zones as well as developing new content.

Gonna have to agree with Ri_Khan. With how buggy and clunky the jumping in ESO can be at times, doing anything like what GW2 does with jumping puzzles would be incredibly frustrating. I really do hope they improve the jumping mechanic eventually. It's the one thing that has always bugged me about this game's controls.

that would require some serious level re-design, so it won't happen. If they implement jumping mechanic and don't redesign map, then:
    • more quick-fix aka invisible walls would have to be placed (esp in cities) so people don't reach places that they shouldn't
    • what would be the point of making new jump mechanic if level design would'nt utilise in some serious way (like it is in gw2)?

Yes, jumping in ESO feel clunky compared with many other games. Noticed this all the way back in beta as I thought ESO felt like an TES game except the jumping.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

And just wanted to say that I love the word 'embrance', half embrace and half enhance.

My toon still can’t step over a single step on the Keeps outer walls in Cyrodiil.... I wouldn’t hold your breath for them to develop this

The platform which ESO is built on allows jumping but doesn't really allow much in the way of accurate jumping. It would be a very unpleasant user experience to do a Mario like jumping puzzle due to this.

Climbing is also nowhere near as easy to develop as you think considering there are no animations done. Remember post-release art is the god killer. Great ideas die when you realize you don't have enough of an art team to do it in a reasonable amount of time.

Still... I'd love more verticality with ESO. The crystal tower and its windows were a really awesome way to convey scale and tell a story.

I second that one. GW2 JumpingPuzzles are soo much fun.
On the other hand, SW:ToRs JumpingPuzzles are hell on earth.

    I´m torn.....
