Necromancer Weaving?

I recently started to play a magicka necromancer and I am really having a hell of a time LA weaving certain abilities. It seems really clunky and its noticeably worse than my magblade. I am curious if its an issue that I just need to keep practicing or are the necro animations clunky and harder to weave? specifically mystic siphon and blastbones I am having a bit of an issue.


If most find it just as easy maybe its just a "git gud" issue :) but my LA weaving on my magblade is pretty good.

    Which abilities in particular? Boneyard is really buggy and sometimes just refuses to cast multiple times in a row, and siphon has to be spammed to activate reliably, although it's off gcd now.

    Ice had problems with siphon too, usually I try to pair it up right after boneyard. So double cast skill then LA.

    Siphon is really acting up for me, the ability shows as usable but it just wont work. Without that, I feel like it would be ok. I wish blastbones was more like shalks from a warden, that ability seems way easier to use.

    I’ve had the same issues, the skill animations seem to take forever and it’s easy to cast LA too soon after skill. I had to just slow down my rotation and really focus on ensuring skill animation was finished before weaving my next LA and skill. LA-Bar Swap- Boneyard is another way I ensure LA before swapping to back bar.

    Most of your issues can probably be chalked up to the issues ZOS is having with getting a few of the Necromancer abilities to function properly. Clunky Necromancer gameplay has been a community pain point since they were released last year. The specific skills you reference are the worst offenders. I expect it will be fixed eventually.

    It's not just you. The animations look really cool, and I appreciate the thought that went into the design, but they're soooo slow and don't work well with light attack cancelling. Siphon is super buggy and sometimes, if I cast it too soon, my character will spin around and unsuccessfully try to cast it at something behind them. Just slow down until you really get the feel for the timing. It's there, and it can be done. It just has a slightly higher learning curve than other specs.

    I don’t usually do too many light attack weaves, but if it helps, I use a Pure Necromage (or Magcro’s as the people call it.) DPS build.

    On my backhand, I usually light attack weave when activating Summoners Armor (for the cost reduction) then another with Skeletal Arcanist, Spirit Guardian, and Degeneration.

    Main Hand: While my summons are up, I usually use my Unnerving Boneyard and Do a few Heavy attacks with a Lightning Staff, and since I have nerien'eth on at the time, I tend to use Crushing Shock while above 50% of my Magicka. It hits hard, has 3x the chance of proccing nerien'eth since it is practically 3 direct damage hits in one (10% chance + crushing shock = 3 in 10 Proc Chance.) and good in group dungeons where ranged interrupts are needed. If there’s a few hard hitters out there (and a few corpses) Deaden Pain is a good ability to use as the major protection will make you all the more Tankier, it is what allowed me to solo a lot of world bosses.

    I know what you mean though, LA weaving isn’t as easy, but if it helps, wait at least 0.5 seconds to 1 second with each weave, because in my experience, A Necromancer is more of an Expert Level Class and takes a lot of work to be able to use one successfully.
    If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

    If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

    To pile on, its not you, OP. I went from a stamblade to a stam necro. Its just not smooth. Skills don't fire all the time, there is cast time, and the clunky feeling comes from the rotation being clunky. Especially compared to stamblade where the skills had immediate payoffs and were inherently fluid

    if it helps and you have access a lot of necro's run imbue weapon from psijic.

    I don't mind the scythe for just open world as its kinda jabs like, but blastbones as of now is just a no go to weave (yes it does look much better on the pts other then its bonus effect not doing anything atm) and the skull is fine but feels very warden bird as it has such a long travel time that your weave can be slow because its in travel

    so yeah, I personally use imbue quite a bit and because I run degeneration I often get the better weave damage buff on attacks from mages guild plus the bonus damage from psijic.

    a little annoying that out of all the spammables necro gets my favorite rotation is from psijic and mages guild, but I guess that's what they are for.

    I think the next update is going to help. Siphons now have a bigger cone to find a corpse, and blastbones now leaps from a longer distance, instead of clumsily pathing around trying to get close. If these work as described (someone posted a video from PTS and it looks like they do) that'll help a lot.

    It's broken. I took two months off to see if it would fix it but they haven't yet. Must not be on there top 10 things to get done at the moment list

    Did you check on PTS? The fixes (if they work) aren't live yet.

    Agreed. I force myself to run it from time to time because I know it has great damage output. But its so frustrating to play. I find that I give up after and hour and go back to my sorc.
