What is normal is maintenance being on night time.

Im in the UK so I feel your maintenance times annoyance however its a American game so we have to abide by American timings.

✭They choose a time that Maintenance would be over or nearly over by the time the majority of their employees at coming to work. So if the patch goes real bad it can be dealt with. Be thankful that it is not done on a Friday.
If there was no maintenance then there would be cries to have one done at every hiccup in the game. Just think of it as an opportunity for you to do your own maintenance or would you rather have a caked overheated processor.0 -

✭No use complaining about maintenance and times thereof. It's a necessary evil, and whatever time it's done it won't suit a proportion of the playerbase.
So of course ZOS carry it out at a time that suits them and the area they are in as far as possible. Very reasonable.
It's slightly unfortunate that today both the live servers and PTS are offline at the same time.
Oh well, an excellent opportunity to catch up on all those household chores that have been piling up

It's in any event almost the best time for us in the UK. Most players are at work or school on weekday mornings, and even for retired folk like me there are often other calls on our time in the mornings. While the middle of the night would be better, I can't complain at weekly maintenance on a weekday morning and besides the people who do complain when maintenance happens are usually the same people who complain when it doesn't happen
!
People will avoid all this frustration and minimise the risk of burn out if they don't stick to a single game, of course, let alone become entirely dependent on it for filling multiple hours of their day.2 -
