Lots of great stuff if you have rolled a new toon. My necro will be loving these! Well, except for the usual worthless poisons and potions and such.

So does a 'preview' baandari pedlar crate have better reward odds than the buyable baandari pedlar crates? What constitutes a high value item?

I think a safe assumption is two Common consumables cards and one Epic or Legendary card awarding a pet, costume, or mount - the items that have traditionally been the bigger, late in the month Daily Rewards.

Probably no Superior tier. But probably no Apex or higher, either. So a lot of hype over what a number of people will still bemoan as junk once they receive that reward.

No. You'll most likely get crap just like the ones you buy

I've got like 50 exp scrolls 50% and 100% with like 1000 potions and posions from daily rewards.
to be honest i don't need this kind of reward as this starts to fill my storage space.

That crate is just there to help hook the newbs who entered the game with the Elsweyr chapter to get addicted to crown crates, with a free taste, as many of the people already playing now got addicted to them.

    :*

Oh, is that the plan? Because, so far, the free crates I've got have only fill me with disappointment and cynicism. Not sure if working as intended :p

They are working as intended. They're advertised as crates of consumables with a chance at getting something else. So yeah, you got your consumables right?

I was thinking that the rewards this month seemed very bland compared with the ones last month. The gold amounts are low and the riding boosts were much more useful to me.

The one just "released" doesn't quite make up for that though.

    They are advertised as what????

The description of the crates for sale is "A mystery collection of Dragonscale related items!"

    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/crownstore/item/7472?dragonscale-crate

It's the same description in game. So where are they advertised as consumable crates? I would like an official source please.

Crown Crates are a new addition to the ESO Crown Store that will give you a chance to obtain exclusive and unique pets, mounts, and more alongside useful consumable items.

This Thursday, we'll be introducing the first season of Crown Crates to the ESO Crown Store. Crown Crates are purchased through the Crown Store, and contain a randomized selection of useful consumables and collectibles that are valued more than the price of a single crate. In addition, they also offer a chance to obtain unique cosmetic items, pets, or mounts. Crown Crates include new and exclusive items, as well as some items you might have missed in previous limited time offers.

An article from 2016? Seriously? I guess it's my fault for starting to play last month and not keeping up with all the hottest news of 3 years ago. Silly me, instead of looking at the information from the advertisement page, or in game, where they are bought, I should have searched the news articles archive, where it totally makes sense.

And for some reason - Crown items don't seem to stack in inventory correctly.

I mean, how much simpler could like-items, from a single source, being made stackable be, yet, here we are....

Crown-purchased items can be turned into gems, but not daily reward items. That means that both variants are different, and therefore cannot be stacked.

Actually, I thought it was the other way around, crate stuff would automatically be gemmed if you got doubles of mounts or pets, and some potions or scrolls/etc could be redeemed for gems if you had no use for them.

I know there are some daily reward crate scrolls I kept that can't stack with regular daily reward scrolls.
I don't 'buy' crates from the store.

But the stuff I'm talking about is consumable supply stuff like the crown chicken dinner, and crown poisons we are getting (before this new months poison varieties) in the daily rewards.
All my stuff that came specifically from daily log in rewards.

I never bought any crown food/drink/poisons from the store.
    Its all from the dailies.

The only stuff I've bought from the crown store is a stableful of cat mounts and a couple boxes of the various associated kittens.
    And an emote or two.

I 'think' I got all the syntax typed out correctly.

Unique items you already have are automatically converted into gems. However you can also manually extract gems out of items you don't want, like their crown food/poison/potions, Mimic Stones, etc... This is handy for the junk you often get from their crates and for which you have no use for.
