Nirncrux from lower level material nodes

If I visit Craglorn with a character that has not yet invested points in all crafting skills, and so is finding nodes below Rubedite/Rubedo/Ruby Ash/Ancestor Silk, will they get Nirncrux from those lesser nodes? Or is the Nircrux only in the random lists for the top-level nodes? The 0.5% drop rate is going to be much worse if it's cut in half by the character not having max crafting rank. I believe that Nirncrux can now also drop from a Jewelry node, so a similar question applies there - will it only drop from Platinum nodes?

I can confirm nirncrux from iron ore. I assume jewelry will be the same.

Great! One sample may not generally be significant, but it does prove existence.

Can confirm nirncrux does drop from Craglorn jewelry nodes and Craglorn jewelry surveys.

I don’t think nirncrux drops from alchemy nodes or humanoid NPCs, @Mithrazielle.

I've gotten nirncrux from the two Craglorn creatures that drop medium armor mats: the Daggerback pigs and welwas.

Nirncrux definitely drops from lower-tier mats. I've gotten it on low-level characters as well as max-tier. Also, it used to drop from the CP 110-140 tier prior to One Tamriel when Craglorn was a vet rank 11 zone.

Weapon version will drop from blacksmith and woodwork nodes as these make weapons
Armour version from blacksmith woodwork and clothing nodes and beasts that drop leather mats as these make armour and shields

Funny thing I did get both versions from jewellery nodes once

They do not drop from alchemy or enchantment nodes

    Er, no.

Potent and Fortified can both drop from any node/creature that can spawn nirncrux. I've gotten both types from all the available nodes. (Yeah, a large part of my ESO fortune is from nirncrux and mat sales.)

Its a 1 in 200 chance to get nirncrux, doubled from pre-One Tamriel, and 1 in 4 of those will be potent.

    Seriously? Who records farming runs?

Okay, I googled it. Apparently people do. Whad'ya know? Here you go, a video of someone getting a Potent AND a Fortified from Jute at 45 seconds. (a lower level mat to answer the OP's question.) I've also gotten both mats from one node at a time too so it doesn't have to be Jute, even though all three of the ones in that video are.

Fair enough I will accept the clothing as I was wrong it has never dropped a potent for me before now and when I read up on it the answers was what I said due to weapons and clothing which kind of makes sense, how old is this video just out of curiosity

I don’t need to watch the others as I said they would drop them anyways so nothing really changes on what I said there

The video was published February of 2018, and since they got housing mats from the nodes, we can safely assume its well after One Tamriel which was the last time ZOS made any changes to the nirncrux drop rate in Craglorn.

Nirncrux will drop from any level ore, wood, or fiber nodes in Craglorn. That includes [rarely] critters you get leather from. I was rather surprised I got one from a welwa, once. They don't drop from alchemy or enchanting nodes.

I can confirm myself that Potent drops from Ancestor Silk, as I got one that way last night. However, my original question was whether the Nirncrux was only in the Ruby-level lists, and that video with the Jute makes me a lot happier about sending all my crew foraging.

    As always:

    1. Nirn drops from any gear crafting material node in Craglorn. This includes animals that drop hides.

    2. It does not drop from Consumable crafting material nodes.

    3. Material level does not matter for any aspect of this.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Seriously? If you haven't gotten it to drop this way, you simply aren't farming enough. I can get nirncrux, both types every single day this way. And I have other people who I make armor for, going out and farming and getting it for me as well- their experiences are the same. Do I keep track of which drops from what? No, I am just pleasantly surprised each and every time. I've even gotten in those bags where you can get like 10 qty of a material (just one time, though).

It doesn't matter how much you farm; nirncrux will not drop from alchemy nodes, enchanting nodes, or mer/human npcs.

If you can't use the mat to make clothing/armor or weapons, it won't have nirncrux. Jute/cotton/ebonthread/ancestor silk/all the other levels I can't recall atm, yes. Iron/high iron/orichalcum/ebony/rubedite ore/other levels I can't recall atm, yes. Maple/oak/yew/ruby ash/other levels I can't recall atm, yes. Welwa/critters that drop leather, yes. Flowers/water for alchemy, no. Runes for enchanting glyphs, no. Orcs, goblins, mer/humanoid enemies, no.

Believe me, I’ve done plenty of Craglorn farming runs in my near 5 years in the game.

You won’t get nirncrux drops from alchemy nodes or humanoid NPCs.

I have been lucky enough to have them drop on animals ... twice.

I got one potent nirncrux from a wormwood plant, the day before yesterday. So, it is possible. I've gotten hundreds of nirncrux from Craiglorn since I've been playing (at least as long as you). I find potent nirncrux seems to drop twice as likely as the other.
