Elder Scrolls Online's UI needs its own visual identity

Skyrim was seven years ago and those gradient HUD bars are just as ugly back then as they are now. It just sucks that I need to download a handful of addons to make it look like it isn't Skyrim. For people who like it, have a classic mode toggle, whatever but I don't think I'm the only one that would love a UI refresh in 2019 along with some QoL features tossed in for the console players who aren't fortunate enough to have addons to address the situation.

Shout out to LUI Extended, DarkUI and InventoryGridViewer for being awesome.
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 11 years. 8 paid expansions. 29 dungeon and zone DLCs. 45 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. Just because Cadwell Silver&Gold failed doesn't mean the game should be brain dead easy forever.

"ESO doesn't need a harder overland" on YouTube for a video of a naked level 3 character w/ no CP allocated AFKing in front of a bear for a minute and a half before dying if you don't believe me change is needed.

As a console player, I can't do much other than push for console updates. Everything on console is so bad it makes me not want to play 80% of the time... I know a lot of people that feel this way, and a lot of them subscribe to ESO+ which makes it ultra frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against PC receiving updates, but they don't focus on console QoL or UI improvements nearly enough.

You have the same style of UI even in TES:Legends, so I don't think they'll get tird of it so easily...

ESO had more of a typical MMORPG UI in early development. It seems they went with the no frills UI as a response to TES fanboys (I am a fan but have some sense).

When Zos was confronted with the issue weeks before launch they said it was always their vision we would get our information from the environment. In other words seeing a graphic on our body telling us when we had a buff or debuff, and more, even though it was well known the game did not work well enough for this false vision comment to hold water.

Of course Zos added a basic buff/debuff tracker which was a silent acknowledgement that they failed to get the game to work well enough that this false vision could actually work since it is still common that graphics fall off early, fall off later or never even occur.

However, Zos is not going to revamp their UI now. That requires work and even more work to maintain it. The lazy route of having players build and maintain it is more cost effective even though it does clearly show they feel consoles are not as important.

You can ask the UI developers - they are very active on the ESOUI Forums but seem to ignore these official ones:

Lead UI Programmer Chip Hilseberg - https://www.esoui.com/forums/member.php?u=13954
Senior UI Engineer Dan Batson -> https://www.esoui.com/forums/member.php?u=19911
