Oh no please no... Akamai is back?? I haven't noticed a change yet, but last time it took a couple of months for it to get me after it was implemented... I stopped playing a lot of content because of how bad the ping was. I don't want to go back to that.

What's wrong with what's in place now? Why go back?

Didn't have time to read through all these posts but, for those of you that didn't know we had success on the NA server just launching the game via steam rather then direct from the client! Not even sure this is the same prob we had after patch last week but I hope it might be able to help some of you! happy holidays

Series recap, for those just joining from home: this thread by disgruntled Australians and other Oceanic peeps started when our geographically challenged but playable ping went from approx 220 to 250 to a whopping 380 to 500. All courtesy of what appeared tone deaf rerouting of our traffic via Akamai.

Two important points to bear in mind going forward: 1) This protest thread IS NOT and has never been about asking ZOS for an Oceanic server. That is switch and bait on their part. 2) This thread ran for nearly a year before our ping mysteriously returned to its playable white numbers - but not before many peeps left the game.

Here's hoping it doesn't run for another year. Another 12 months of terribad game performance and being ignored by customer service would pretty much be the death sentence for ESO Down Under.

    Thank you for the tip.

I just tested this theory and it made no difference to ping, unfortunately.

My tracert showed no change to the path, it's still making a detour over to Sydney before it disappears in the Akamai abyss.

My ping is still in the high 200s and occasionally in the red rather than the low 200s where it should be normally.

    Such is life :(

My ping has returned to 350 as well, but with very frequent, almost constant spikes to 500, then 999+.

Overland content is not unplayable, true. As long as you can deal with the second delay between activating anything and having the action execute.

Anything more challenging ranges from frustrating to unplayable. Vet dungeons and BG play like slideshows, with characters and mobs teleporting from spot to spot while I remain in heavy attack animation. Frequently, I'm standing, still performing (sluggish) actions, while everything around me remains frozen for several moments, before suddenly everything achieves mach speed, apparently to fast foward all actions occuring in the downtime within a second or two. This is happening multiple times in each dungeon or battleground. Sometimes, in stead of rubber-banding, it simply boots me off the server.

For vet trials, a major part of why I play, the situation often makes them impractical, and its pointless to sign up.

I should add that I'm playing from Sydney, Australia, and that the recent improvements a couple months ago improved my ping to around 240-290 again, until very recently.

Mines fine these days, I've even stopped using mudfish.

Have you tried using a VPN to bypass that node to rule out ISP congestion?

I'm using Mudfish right now and the change is marginal, about 10-20 ms lower, but still 40-60ms more than before this happened; https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/505575/akamai-routing-eso-though-sydney-australia#latest

    Has something changed recently?
My ping jumped back up to 350+ this last week. Same for my friends, all in WA.

Vpn gets it back under 300. Pretty [snip] though.

I was waiting until the event spam was over to comment on my ping to eliminate that as a cause, but it definitely seems that something has changed for the worse. It's only been a minor change for me, I sit around 270 with 300+ spikes when I used to be able to get 230-250, but I have faster internet now than I did when Akamai was causing issues so I'm not sure if that's helped.

I'm extremely disappointed if we're getting given this treatment again :/.

Yes, it's getting worse. That has been my experience over the last few days. Now getting around 300ms ping from New Zealand.

My trace-route says 57ms to Sydney Akamai and there it must be picking up a further 250 to the USA while in the Akamai abyss.

Akamai lag + Server Lag = Noticeable gameplay lag.

Hi everyone. First off, we apologize for the lack of communication regarding your concerns in this thread. We do appreciate everyone posting all the information, which has been very helpful. We wanted to let you know that our network engineering team has been looking into this, and we hope to have some updates for you all soon.

any updates to this Miss Gina? Even half of what we have now would be great! ;)

I noticed yesterday, that SPARK was having technical issues in the global gateway that was increasing pings to ESO by +150ms. It seems to have been resolved now though.

We are still being routed through Akamai in Sydney however, which adds further latency due to being a detour in the wrong direction to the USA.

Sorry to necro this thread again, but although my ping has been much more stable recently, enough so for me to return to the game, I fear the improvement is too little too late. I just sat in a queue for vet Lair of Maarselok for 30+ minutes, as tank, on the day it is the vet pledge. I tried re-queuing solo and with a dps but got nothing. All my old guilds are dead and even the ones I have recently joined are lucky to have 20-40 people on during Australia prime time. I know there are a few active Aus guilds out there but just wow, this game is so dead in Aus prime time compared to a year or two ago. Am I just looking in the wrong place or is anyone else seeing the same thing?

Went into Kaal Cyro and it was dead. Only about 2 people in chat. A scroll was being troll farmed. Oh whoopee. Jumped into Laat, and no one responded in chat - at all. Total silence. I saw only one enemy, who was soloing all the resources on the map. Total time spent online, 20 minutes. Log off.

A very active Oceanic pve guild I've been with for 5 years has gone dark. Still has a big membership, but only about 5 people online. An Oceanic pvp guild that used to be active hardly ever runs groups any more. Even the Japanese ball groups are gone from Kaal. Less of everything across the board. Patience ran out I guess. Other things to do, other games to play. Pfft.

    That's crazy.
I haven't played for months but decided to test out this re-download patch thingy.

My ping is a steady 225. Dropped to 217 for a few seconds.... not gone over 230 - that's during a 5 minute runaround Glenumbra.... didn't see any other players around though.

Gonna wait a couple of weeks and try again before deciding whether or not to re-sub.

Not sure what happened there. Mine didn't change. Still hovering around 330ms but only PvE in ESO so its not really an issue.
