Oceanic Lag now 300-400 ms even with a vpn - was 250-300??

Not many people actually wanted an OCE server though. We just want a better connection to the current server.

Other mmos can provide a latency in the 200's for OCE players on NA servers. Thats all most people are asking for.
Currently we are dealing with 400-500 unless using a vpn.

That response is such a bloody cop out from ZOS. They screwed up when they chose their system architecture and now they don't have the money or the knowledge how to fix it. As I've said before, a better design would be to have a global chat, guild, account and group finder system etc with regional shards of things like dungeons, trials, pvp etc. For a simplified system of what I am talking about look at something like Fortnite. Everyone is on the same "megaserver" but games are sharded to regions transparently unless you specifically set your region. I've worked on transactional systems that worked in a similar way with global accounts but regional sharding. It is technology that has been around for decades.

    Exactly.

Please everybody, do NOT go off on this new mega server tangent. This response was made by ZoS effectively deflecting the previous thread about akamai's scrubbers. Discussing a new server or shard just plays into their hands. It gives them the perfect excuse to ignore us and do nothing because they can conflate two separate issues.

BEFORE AKAMAI WE USED TO AVERAGE 220ms. We still get 220ms to everywhere in US central except ESO server . We have done the traces to prove Akamai is the problem. Akamai advertises and therefore routes us through stupid routes.

NZ players get routed north to Hong KONG instead of the shortest route...due East

Central/East Coast Aussie players get routed west to Singapore then Netherlands.

The shortest route for us all is East...not north then west to Europe then to East Coast US then to Central US. You couldn't choose a longer route. Then there is the issue of packet loss and additional delays within the Akamai server or w/e.

JUST GET RID OF IT OR FORCE AKAMAI TO SCRUB US IN SYDNEY OR BETTER STILL IN US CENTRAL I know we need DDoS protection but the provider should not drag us the wrong way around the planet because it's cheaper.

I can see their side of the story it's just rather unfortunate. If the reports of the EU server being no better switching seems pointless, and interestingly enough Akami sends me through the the EU on the way to the US.. mind boggling

That is *a* problem, but not *the* problem being discussed - as evidenced by every other online game managing around 200ms ping from Aus to US servers. The blame lies squarely with ZOS here.

The problem is on ZOS Side

Yes connexion is bad from asia oceania... but still have lots of lags and issues in europe on european server...

And other site and games connect just fine

This is the heart of the issue. So much evidence, so little response from ZOS.

I'll butt in this thread and add that I also felt an increase in lags in South America. Seems like the game is being trash for ppl outside Europe and America. I also want ZOS to explain to me how I have to deal with a 450 ms ping on ESO and I can play SWTOR with a 130 ms ping.

You guys will be staggered to know that the latest patch fixed nothing.

Logged back in standing around Stormhaven ... ping at stable 400 ... logged out and used VPN ... 280

That just proves spending money on a second sub is just stupid.. Why spend money on eso+ and a vpn to get crap ping

Where as i can play gw2 without a vpn and get 180-200ms?

Dont find excuses to support zenimax. Bad to no content, unstable game terrible coding... I guess a great PR team to keep people coming.

My ping used to be 320-340 without a vpn and is now 460-490.
As soon as i use mudfish vpn my ping drops to 270-290.
something so simple cutting off 200ms
I guess using a vpn is the only choice we have..

I only got a short time to log in last night after the patch dropped...

My mudfish ping was 184.. ingame I was getting 235-250... traipsing around Alinor

BG still spiked closer to 260-300...

Not in this thread, we shouldn't. It's a distraction. This thread is about the lag problem cause by ZOS and Akamai, a problem ZOS could and should fix immediately.

In Cyrodiil no - cp last night. Each alliance running one group and maybe a try hard lone bomber or two.

Aussies in our guild in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney all getting 400to500 (vpn dependent)

That's 400 to 500 ping with a Cyrodil population of 25 players top!
