The weekly vendor in Cyrodiil, I am wondering why we get to buy Monster helms from him and not shoulders?

You can potentially grind pledges for days and never get the shoulders you need, so why are they not at this vendor? Pretty sure I can farm a specific dungeon and get this helm in a few runs usually... so why are you offering it to me at this vendor and not shoulders, that i hate grinding for and never getting?

Change it up and put shoulders not helms!!!!!

Some weeks it's shoulders, some weeks helms. That's how it's always worked.

Because you can run any pledge and get a key for a desired monster shoulder piece. For the helm, you must run a specific dungeon on vet. Some people struggle to complete vet dungeons, especially DLCs. Offering the helms allows anyone to skip the dungeon and purchase a helm when offered. The shoulders, however, can be farmed by running FG1 level pledges. Even if you want a DLC set shoulder. In a sense, they’re far easier to obtain for a lot of players. You don’t even have to run them on vet. So even easier still. Pretty sure that’s why. Could be wrong?

I would much prefer it if the vendor never sold shoulders and only sold helms.

The reason is that I dislike PVE and only really ever play it to level undaunted on a new PVP character.

As a result, I have dozens of keys with which I can easily get any shoulder I want, but to get helms I'd have to PVE in DLC dungeons which I'd prefer not to do.

I think a lot of PVP players are in the same boat.

Totally. The split helm / shoulders is just right as ticks a few boxes for the different way people play.

No. Shoulders are much more pain to get thanks to RNG factor. I like the split.

I guess I'm presuming that a large segment of players have excess undaunted keys by now. I also presume there are other PVP players who don't enjoy PVE. It's torture to me because I find it really boring. But I don't necessarily think the system should be changed at all. Just don't make it shoulder only!

Then you wait for your monster set to be on the vendor. And tbf, if you're a decent PvP-player, you can manage any vetDLC dungeon just fine. Sure, you might not get all the end-game cheevos, but you canc omplete it. And with upgrade materials cheap across the board, and with re-traiting items... You only need to worry about getting the right type of armour.

You/Group members tend to get at least 1 heavy, light and medium shoulder in 2-3 runs. Which should, hm, maybe take 1.5h in total, given you use 30 minutes on every vetDLC(Which is probably a tad too long, but.. just for the sake of it) and if you compare that to how hard it is to farm that no-named 1h of e.g. Bone Pirate or how painful it is to get a Selene's 1h/shield of Hircine... Then I rather take on the vetDLCs, tbh.

It's just farming different gear-pieces. I had 110 keys saved up for then Earthgore dropped back in the days. I spent 90 keys and got 1(!) light shoulder. 1. When Light is like the worst type I could've gotten anyway. So I rather have the mix between shoulder/head on the vendor, instead of RNGing on a chest. (And tbf, it did take me quite a while to stack up 90 keys.. So.. Yeah. No. Keep both there pl0x)

I spent 50 keys on one particular undaunted chest and never got the particular shoulder I needed to match my helm (I didn't care about the trait). I was so unhappy with RNGesus that I waited until the golden vendor had the shoulder I needed before doing any more undaunted dungeons.

You can open 1 million chests and still never get anything useful out of it. You can want a set and you get like bazillion of Lord Warden Trash shoulder pieces. Excess keys literally mean nothing. You do not improve your chances at all because it's a roll from nothing once you close the chest and open the chest with another key.

I don't play games to be bored. I only enjoy PVP in ESO. I'd love to quest and raid but I find PVE combat so mind-numbingly boring that it's actually painful to me. I'm not exaggerating. Shopping for groceries is more entertaining.

Well, I don't disagree. I have 30 million AP stacked up, that I can use on nothing. Because nothing is worth selling for AP. I rather buy all my gear / golden mats etc. with that, instead of farming PvE-dungeons. But game's how it is. I also find the PvE-content boring. It's just hitting HP-sponges, which isn't really my cup of tea.

Agree ... maybe one of the best points in the thread.

Disagree ... not one of the best points in the thread.

You don't have to be in a PvE or Trading Guild to sell AP for gold.

There are PvE players always looking for Akiviri or Militant Ordinator motifs, Cyrodiil-exclusive gear, or other items only sold in AP. Maybe some players think it's too much of a hassle to deal with PvE players when it really isn't? Being in a Trade Guild makes it easier since there's no "face-to-face" needed with prospective buyers.

Thinking that PvE dungeons is the only source of gear / golden mats, along with the mindset that "nothing is worth selling for AP", is probably being short-sighted, lazy, or both.

Nothing is worth selling for AP, given that the ratio is complete garbage these days, compared to what it was. I nkow I can always dump my 30 mill AP into motifs. But doesn't change the fact that I get a garbage ratio out of it.
