    NO, HELL NO!

AGAIN, THIS IS ESO, NOT WOW OR FFXIV.

    What I want
    • Weapon Skill Line ("Battlemage playstyle").
    • World Skill Line: Necromancy.
    • Guild Skill Line: Bards College.
    • Spellcrafting.

No classes and no races (but skins).

One more time: This is ESO, not WoW or FFXIV!

I want spellcrafting too, and I don't see why it'd exclude new classes in the future. Both are compatible.
    My characters:
Main and crafter: A Breton magicka templar named Erwann Sorril
Alt 1: A Bosmer sorcerer named Tuuneleg
Alt 2: An Imperial dragonknight named Gaius Tullius Hastifer
    Alt 3: An Argonian vampire/nightblade named Observe-le-Xanmeer
Alt 4: A Nord werewolf/dragonknight named Sigurd Hurlevent
Alt 5: A Breton sorcerer named Gilian Sorril (he's Erwann's younger brother)
    Alt 6: A Khajiit nightblade named Jolan-dar
Alt 7: A Nord warden named Sigurmar Hurlevent (he's Sigurd's younger brother)
Alt 8: An Altmer templar named Oioriel
Alt 9: An Argonian stamina Warden named Danse-avec-les-Rainettes
Alt 10: A Redguard templar named Neemokh af-Corelanya
Alt 11: A Nord stamina sorcerer named Olga Écoute-Vent
Alt 12: A Breton magicka Warden named Ian Sorril
Alt 13: A Dunmer magicka necromancer named Ilmoran Dren
Alt 14: An Orc stamina necromancer named Norgol gro-Borziel
Alt 15: A Nord magicka necromancer named Thorgen Givresang
Alt 16: An Imperial magicka dragonknight named Publius Valeirus Hastifer (Just call him "Valerio" - he's Gaius younger troublemaker of a brother)
Main in NA (For collaborative events): A Breton magicka nightblade named Titouan Sorril (long-lost brother of Erwann and Gilian)

There are two new classes I'd like to see in the future.

A "Necromancer" class, using undead pets, dark magic to provoe illnesses or oblivion damage, and illuson magic to frighten foes.

An "Artificer" class, using mechanical pets (dwarven animunculi or fabricants), explosive things, and devices to alter the properties of the terrain (traps, smoke healing the allies, harming the foes, and so on).

I don't see why a new class would require skyshards and achievements to be account-wide. Where's the sense of progression with your new char in that?

Because after a point it isn't "progression

    It's "torture"

Many people want to actually play this new hypothetical class in content they enjoy but are instead forced to do all sorts of bullsnip first

Don't pay attention, it's just a purist thinking nothing should ever evolve with Elder Scrolls (even though looking at the original games "Orcs" and "Imperials" are tacked-on races and Khajiit and I believe Argonian used to be human-like)

A Builder/Engineer would be a cool class. Also, they should just rework Sorc Pets to make them a true Necromancer class.

Or... Necromancer should be a world skill line like Vampire/WW. Let everyone have access to it. They could do the same for Enginner/Mechanic too actually, Necro-Mag, and Eng-Stam.

I would love a new class! But I do not want my achievements or skyshards copied over. I like doing the map again with each character

    EVENTUALLY!
Yeah, sure... with a caveat: it'd only be worth adding a new class if they make the new class AND current classes each feel more differentiated. People hear "Elder Scrolls" and expect their character to be able to do everything equally well. In an MMO, design strengths and weaknesses promote variety between classes so that your alts aren't just glorified storage containers, crafting robots, or clones of whatever tank/heal/DPS build is meta. They can, if you choose to experience it, offer a different playstyle, but the tradeoff is you may not be able to efficiently perform in a certain role or function (and you may overperform in another).

Note that this is very much an initial impression; I'm sure classes will feel more different from each other when I reach the endgame and see the high-end builds and rotations. But, while I can see what ZOS was going for by creating classes in the first place, I'm not quite sure they've achieved it. My feeling is that classes are food coloring, and the dish (tank, heal, DPS) is basically the same.

No, I am not saying that, not at all.
I am saying... if you own multiple cars, then driving the distance with one of them does not make all your other cars magically appear at the destination as well.

Actually it sounds like you're saying if you have one car, you should only drive one car and every other car should take 180 days to be as fast as that car instead of being able to go as fast as it can go from the day you bought it.

If I have 15 cars shouldn't I be able to drive them all whenever I want as fast as they can go? Or should I wait 180 days for my Yugo to turn into a Ferrari?

Funny, huh? Almost sounds like mounts

You really love strawmanning don't you?

To those asking for more skill lines instead of classes, ffs. We have too many spell/skills for just 10 buttons. Either give me a third bar (like Werewolf/Vampire) or don't even bother adding new skill lines.

Also, what's the problem with new races?

New classes and new races makes the game like WoW...

    Somehow...

    I guess...

That may be your delusion, but that is not what I was saying.
I am saying... if you own multiple cars, then driving the distance with one of them does not make all your other cars magically appear at the destination as well.
...which I thought was a pretty good example continuing your chosen form of metaphor.
Multiple chars, multiple characters... achievement destinations... drive one there, the others do not magically follow, you gotta drive them on their own.

Mounts, huh? So, you are saying, if you have 15 horses, you should be able to ride them all from birth, and not have to wait until they actually grow up strong enough to carry you at the same speed as the adult horse?

Also, achievements have no influence on any in-game effect, though I am not surprised you might want to argue account-wide riding training as well, it would fit with the general "gimme" theme, yes? ;)

    I mean, I get it.

You want to get all things account wide, and you try to construct arguments why that should be the only "right" way, and you don't like it when these arguments of yours have the validity chocked from them by the cold, cruel hand of logic! ;)
So you ignore that and try to counter my arguments not by discussing them, but by grasping for "that sounds like" straws to discredit all I say?
Not really a basis for a good discussion I daresay.
No matter, I said my piece, and I can let it stand. If you still like to think that one character getting the mass murderer achievement means the -player- is actually mass murderer, please go and turn yourself in at the nearest police station when you do that one, the cops on duty there might like a good laugh... ;)
    Valrien wrote: »

    Okay... let's review this claim.
    The definition of strawmanning is:
A straw man is a common form of argument and is an informal fallacy based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while actually refuting an argument that was not presented by that opponent.
    So...
    You ask:
    Valrien wrote: »
Are you saying just because you drive a car, does not mean you actually travelled that distance because all you did was drive a car?
    I reply:
I am saying... if you own multiple cars, then driving the distance with one of them does not make all your other cars magically appear at the destination as well.
    You state:
    Valrien wrote: »

So, you are not refuting my argument, but you try and make a case against a different argument that you claim my argument "sounds like"? Seems like you are projecting your fallancy on others, huh? :p;)

In any case, I see no gain in continuing this discussion. I said my piece, and I will say it again the next time someone of the "gimme crowd" will try and lawyer themselves account wide achievement this way when I can see it.
