I have spend a lot of time contacting the customer support and have finally managed to fix the issue. Hopefully these fixes that the customer support suggested to me will also help you. If not I encourage you to contact the customer support.

The first method that was suggested to me was:
If you are unable to run the game on the Mac, there might be an issue with one of the programs you have loading up automatically on startup. That means it is maybe time to clear out your login items. While you're still in safe mode you can remove any apps that start automatically:

1.Open up your System Preferences (Applications > System Preferences).
2.Select "Users and Groups" and select your user ID.
3.Select the "Login Items" tab.
4.Select each of the applications you have and click on the minus sign to remove them from the list.
5.Reboot and see if you can start up and play the game.

The second method was:
Please remove all add-on's and repair your Game Client so we may assist you further, if you are unable to do so, we may be unable to provide accurate troubleshooting for your issue.

To completely remove add-ons from The Elder Scrolls Online, players should perform the following steps:

Mac:
Open the Finder and go to Documents.
Do not go to the Applications folder. ESO files stored in the Applications folder do not affect game preferences.
Find the "Elder Scrolls Online" folder.
Open the "live" folder (NA megaserver) or "liveeu" (EU megaserver).
Remove all files from the "AddOns" folder.
Remove all files from the "SavedVariables" folder.
Remove AddOnSettings.txt from the "live" folder.
Please note, players do not need to delete these files. They simply need to be removed from the game folders. Players can keep them safe by moving them to another folder.
Players who did not delete these add-ons and wish to restore them can do so by moving the files back to the "AddOns" folder.

Depending on the issue you have encountered, there are several ways to repair The Elder Scrolls Online game files.

You can select one of the scenarios below, or click the link to view this ESO Help video for all three repair options.

The Play Button reads "Play" or "Update"
The Play Button reads "Install"
The Play Button reads "Pause" during download
Note: Before starting any of these fixes, you will need to disable or delete any addons.

The Play Button reads "Play" or "Update"

Click Game Options (located under the News Section).
Click Repair and wait for the process to finish.

The Play Button reads "Install"

Click Install and start downloading.
Once the download begins, shutdown the launcher.
Restart the launcher and click Game Options.
It should read as Updating… with Cancel underneath.
Click Cancel.
The Game Options tab should now include Repair.
Click Repair and wait for it to finish.

The Play Button reads "Pause" during download

Expand the Game Options menu.
If the tab reads Installing…, restart the launcher.
When the tab says Updating…, click Cancel.
The Game Options tab now should include Repair.
Click Repair and wait for it to finish.
The repair process will go through a loop of verify, download, and verify again until all files are repaired. The progress bar may load from 0 to 100 multiple times before finishing. This may take a while.
Once the repair is finished, restart the game and see if the issue is still occurring. Check that the issue is resolved before reinstalling or reactivating addons.

The third method was:
If you are running an anti-virus software, we suggest for you to add exceptions for The Elder Scrolls Online to it. Each antivirus program is different and we recommend that players view the antivirus developer's website for full instructions on how to add exceptions. The application files that may require exceptions are:
Bethesda.net_launcher
ESO.exe
Steam.exe
ESO64.exe
Some antivirus programs require entire folders to be selected instead of a single file. When this is the case, the file paths below are what players should use. If required by the anti-virus program, include all subfolders since every file is critical to run the game.

Next, since you are launching through Steam we advise for you to try the following:

Verify your game cache:
Right click the game in your Steam Library.
Go to Properties then the LocalFiles tab.
Click Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

Wait for it to complete.
This should remove any potentially corrupt or broken files and allow the game to run.
Disable the Steam Overlay:
Open Steam and click Settings.
Select the In-Game tab.
Uncheck the box next to Enable Steam Community while in-Game and click OK.
Disable the Steam Overlay on specific games only by right-clicking on the game title, selecting Properties, and unchecking Enable Steam Community In-Game in the General tab.
Restart Steam and launch the game again.

The final method was:
First, navigate to the Documents folder. It will be under Favorites in the Finder.
Look for The Elder Scrolls Online folder.
Open the Live folder.
Open the file labeled usersettings.
Scroll down until the line SET RequestedNumJobThreads appears.
Edit this line and the next line to the following:
SET RequestedNumJobThreads "0"
SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "0"
Next, look for the line SET GraphicsDriver 7.
Make sure the line reads:
SET GraphicsDriver.7 "OpenGL
Once all the changes have been made, save the file, then start the game. If issues persist, you can also try changing the Threads values to "2" and "2" or "4" and "4".
