I’ve done gold crafted jewelry on PTS ... assuming nothing has changed for Live but it’s quite expensive to test on Live at the moment.

It's theoretically doable. The mats would take some effort to track down. Certainly nobody is packing 8 full platings fully self farmed. If someone threw enough gold at it, they could upgrade for the sake of doing it. Most people would say it's not worth the effort currently other than bragging rights.
