Will there ever be another PVP DLC again ?

I just need to know if there ever going to make another PVP dlc. Cause if not I'm over it, I achieved everything I wanted. Not really a role player not interested in story's and lore. The new sets are ok nothing to get excited about. They still dont listen to the community only Youtubers and Twitch streamers that are Super PvE'ers. Theorycrafting has became a laughable, and I'm over 1k CP so I'm good until 2020 or until the ps5 comes out what ever comes first ?

What do you think ? Will there ever be another PVP DLC ? Becuase honestly I don't think so ...

You realize this is a PVE game with PVP tossed in to appeal to a few more people right? Since a majority of players do mostly or only PVE, i dont see you getting more than a bone thrown to pvp every once in a while, lately that has been in form of battlegrounds and changes to battlegrounds. Battlegrounds are a year old, they recently when to no CP to make them more competitive with new maps added and with summerset even more people will be able to access them meaning more people to play with.

I doubt they will spend the resources on making a pvp centric DLC because its not going to be real profitable to do so.

On a serious note, even IC wasn’t exactly a PvP DLC. It closed the book on the Planemeld/Molag Bal story with some PvP mixed in.

I would be surprised if they didn't have some PvP feature (arena) every 2-3 years. Anything faster or an update focused around PvP i'd put money against in a bet.

To be very, very blunt --

The PVP community is not large enough to warrant the level of resources that a DLC would entail.

Until they lure enough players back to it (and it's only been a shrinking community), I do not think they will do more than adjust numbers (skill changes, class updates, gear nerfs, etc) here and there during major patches.

This. I disagree about this game being a PvE game, it's both, however PvE is clearly far more profitable than PvP, and the bottom line is ZOS like any other company work for money, so they focus the majority of their resources and work power on PvE. Can you blame them? That's how you run a business.

Will we ever see new PvP content? I believe we likely will, maybe in a year or two. Is PvP ever going to have the focus? Nope.

I think eventually there will be a deep dive into Cyrodiil issues. It's a huge landscape with very little reason to visit much of it. With Summerset, at least we got something with changes to offensive/defensive ticks and siege, and I would expect future investment to be along those line. A whole PvP centric update seems unlikely.

The problem with the question is the level of granularity. Why should a DLC be PvP when they can introduce an entirely new game mode to the game as part of a mostly PvE DLC like with Morrowind.

It might make more sense to ask if they will come up with some kind of creative PvP mode in the future, like IC was. Battlegrounds is a pretty generic game mode. But it is possible that they didn't see enough interest in IC or saw too many complaints to make them want to bother.

Perhaps end game was pvp, but the game was a pve game. The amount of content in the base games zones was enormous and the majority of players were TES fans who came here for that content. A lot of us were not MMO people and had no idea that "end game" is a thing.

Trials seem barely relevant to whether this is a pve or pvp game if the vast majority of pve players don't do trials.

Maybe we'd get a PVP DLC if...

If Imperial City weren't a dead zone except for 4 weeks out of the year during the anniversary and Midyear Mayhem.

If Battlegrounds didnt have population and proc set issues with No CP, tank issues with CP, and now we're back to No CP hoping that making BGs base game finally solves the low population issue.

If Cyrodiil didnt have persistant playability issues and wasn't losing campaigns instead of gaining them.

If ZOS doesnt gice us another PVP DLC, it'll be because we PVPers don't have the population to make the current PVP venues work effectively.

I consider pretty much all DLCs to be PvP DLCs, as they give new skills, gear, etc. to use in PvP.

I don't really want any more PvP "content" to further divide the existing PvP playerbase and water down existing content.

Other than a battle royal or true guild vs guild match, I'm not sure what else they could do.

I think guild vs guild would be a very welcome addition, where you could set up 6v6, 8v8 and/or 12v12 matches on a map instance set up by the two group leaders.

That would be very welcome, and mostly what I wanted from battlegrounds to begin with. Customized matches, not arcade PvP with powerups.

Depends on your definition of "PvP DLC":
If you're hoping for DLC that adds only PvP content, then I think you're in for some disappointment.
If however you want DLC that adds some new PvP content in addition to other PvE stuff, then I'd expect something in upcoming content.

Just looking at the most recent content: Morrowind introduced battle grounds, Dragon Bones added new battle grounds, Summerset is making battle grounds available to everyone as well as introducing some changes to Cyrodiil. Doesn't look to me like PvP has been completely neglected.

ESO is worse than a typical PVE MMO. It is a PVE MMO for single player Skyrim noobs. No offense to those who started there and have evolved into bona fide gamers.

I recognize that wasn't the original plan, but it's the case now. Unfortunately, Skyrim changed everything.

What ZOS should do is take the AvA tech and spin it off as its own F2P game that is loosely tied but separate from ESO. Like the same character could exist in both games, but each would have their own rules and itemization.

ESO began development long before Skyrim was released. At that time, the subscriber model was extremely lucrative and Blizzard was making a fortune from it. ESO was originally designed for that core MMO audience. There was supposed to a robust PVE endgame and AvA was intended to be a major component of the game.

By the time ESO was released, Skyrim had happened. It was a phenom. It brought TES into the mainstream. Its sales dwarfed all other TES games, radically changing the audience. At the same time, the MMO subscriber model had already started to fail.

To make matters worse, ESO was behind schedule and launched in an unfinished state. The greater MMO audience hated it because it was unfinished, unrefined and broken in many ways. Skyrim fans hated it because it was too difficult. ZOS changed the direction of the game to suit the affluent and casual Skyrim audience. That's where we are today.

PVP players have every right to be outraged by this, but our voices are easily drowned out by Skyrim fans willing to spend $150 on player houses as part of their thousands of dollars worth of Crown store purchases.

That's why I say ZOS should spin AvA off as its own game. The tech exists, so why not monetize it? If other publishers can come up with F2P business models for PVP games, so too can ZOS. Right now PVP in ESO is burdened by its ultra casual PVE audience.

There has never really been a PVP DLC, IC DLC also had 2 dungeons, and tons of PVE gear to farm in IC to get PVE players interested in providing liquidity to PVP players. Having said that, there has never been a DLC or "Chapter DLC" that hasn't also had PVP content or content that can be used in PVP. Any gear set that can be used in PVP is essentially PVP content as well.

This distinction between PVP and PVE DLCs has always been hyperbolic; if you want more PVP content in your DLCs maybe start a poll that covers what kind of content you'd find interesting and try to get people behind it. A lot of people are talking about wanting an "alterac valley" type mode, and of course it would be nice to have something like DAOC's darkness falls or Warhammer Online's "Land of the Dead".

You should likely not waste time asking for open world PVP in PVE zones or "the justice system" as you will just get muted out by PVEers that don't want that. Good luck.

Gotta love how PvE crowd will tell you, there wont be PvP DLC because PvP population is so small and ZoS dont care about PvP at all. I mean, why would they? It's not making them any money, right.
But...when a skill gets changed, or a set, or procs cant crit anymore.... what happens then?

I think the issue is there isn't much new stuff to add.

We have sandbox-lite PvP zone (Cyrodiil)
    We have instanced arenas (Battlegrounds)
    We have PvE/PvP zone (IC)
    We have duelling

I think all they can do at this point is to continue building on what they have. Wheeler said last time he was on ESO Live they're focusing on stability issues before adding more to Cyrodiil however.

A nice sentiment but do you honestly believe that theyre ever going to radically improve Cyrodiil to the point where large scale battles will be fun? I doubt it. Based on how long it takes them to even bring small changes to the game and how often new bugs show up, I can't ever see them really making PvP great again before the game stops being profitable. I however, could be enticed by an AvAvA standalone if done correctly and not requiring months and years of farming again.

id strongly recommend educating yourself before embarrasing yourself with your ridiculous claims.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYRO1F_SDxc

this is the original launch trailer. notice how its only showcasing cyrodiil? you can google for pre release interviews aswell. you will notice how the vast majority of them are entirely focusing on pvp while barely even mentioning the pve aspect of the game. this game was meant to be the unofficial successor to DAoC which is an entirely pvp focussed mmo.

the first dlc was also pvp focussed one. it was much later when ZOS realized that they could milk much more cash of the pvers and roleplayers cos they would literally throw absurd amounts of cash at them for vanity *** that took legit 3 mins to create while the proper players aka the pvp crowd would actually demand real content for their cash. thats when their focus shifted and it only happened cos they wanted to make cash of the easily entertained pve crowd. guess you cant really blame them for wanting money but claiming this is a pve game is just ridiculous. it kinda is nowadays but it was never planned to be until like 1 year after release.

Theres no question that the majority of marketing pre-launch and for the first half year or so focused mainly on PvP, but the company has clearly pivoted away from PvP entirely since the IC relaunch.

They gave up on their starting player base and built the game in a new direction; It's just frustrating that they saw PvP players as $$$$ cow's until they filled the game with enough PvE content to be marketable to the Skyrim fan base. But at this point too many players that cared about PvP, unsurprisingly, gave up on ZoS and are not looking back.

I've been playing since beta so unless the alpha was vastly different.... I demoed what was a late alpha or very early beta at PAX East in March 2013. They demoed PvE not PvP there. I agree those ads are very pvp centric but there were other more pve centric ads as well.

The game always had more pve maps and content than pvp from the beginning. However the pvp aspect was always there as well.

That said this is a stupid arguement 4 years later. The game is what it is now. The majority of the content is pve focused but there is a major pvp aspect. I love and play both and would not want the game to be without either of them.
