The Dominion's Impossible Landing in Shadowfen

Truly a spectacle for the Queen's mighty Navy, for none of their enemies, be they Pact ships or impassable landmasses, can stop them from achieving their goals. Their great vessels go wherever the Queen desires them to, even if it probably means taking a team of Mages to teleport the entire boat up-river via straight through an Argonian Temple. A Temple in which a Pirate ship is already docked and also blocking the way.

Maybe someone in the Art department, or whoever it is, could spend some time redesigning a few areas of landscape to make them more continuity and logically friendly? For all these massive ships to traverse such constricting waters is a feat that even makes Wizards blush.

    Yeah, an don´t forget that Shadowfen´s river isn´t even concected to the ocean, so, unless they dropped the ship via giant eagles I don´t know how the hell did they got there.

    They obviously watch the show 'vikings'. Great show btw.
    in that show, ragnar lothbrok has his raiding fleet lift their boats up a cliff, push them across a few miles of terrain, and put them back in the water upriver of the French defensive forts in order to bypass them and attack Paris.

    Considering Altmer superiority in terms of magic, I don't think it would have been impossible to levitate the entire ship over that bit of land and drop it back in the river. Most likely someone in the quest design department missed that detail and missed an opportunity to explain it.

    What baffles me more is that why is there a sail boat on a small island off the coast of Vulkhel Guard with a strange, blue, glowing sail? An abandoned side quest? Was it an easter egg? If it's an easter egg, I want to know what's it referring to?

    Is that the one you take for the Clockwork City prologue quest by any chance, or is there another mysterious boat I'm not remembering?

    Except ESO more or less retconned all of the advanced magic the altmer supposedly had. You'd think that someone, anyone, would have referenced this ability in-game if it existed in ESO's interpretation of the lore.

    Sorry dude, but it just sounds like a convenient excuse to explain poor worldbuilding. Even if this was the case, it would be an example of poor writing, as we're expected to believe that no one, anyone, sees reason to bring this up again, and that the Dominion, for some bizarre reason, never ever uses this ability in any other situation despite how useful it would be.
    No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

    We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

    i just put it down to - we have to role play the river is wider and deeper than it is lol

    Sure its impossible to not say that's devs just forget about logic, this is just game after all and there can be simplifications and some details overlooked.

    But from other side that's explain why Dominion invaded Shadowfen, as they require large amounts of magical fuel to make fleet levitate, remember Sun Birds require magicka to reach Aetherius, that's why Dominion extract and boil Hist sap, think about it even Molag Bal was interested in Hist Sap for same reason as it was good magical fuel.

    So after they secured this area by small invader group that was possible to levitate entire fleet of Dominion and achieve victory over Pact.

    About retcon of high tech magic that was used by altmers, there are still examples of it like light beam harbor defense system

    Why would this stuff just randomly be "forgotten" during the time of ESO? You can maybe get away with that in human regions, but the Altmer are all about preservation. It just doesn't make any sense, man. None of this does. The altmer are humans with pointy ears living in generic medieval europe now.

    Shadowfen is a swam and most of the areas around it are as well. I would imagine that at one time it was flooded enough to get the ship in there and then it was just stuck, waiting for it to flood, again.

    My theory is that one of the Khajiit nightblades cloaked his way to the disembarkment point, notified the AD Navy in chat and they teleported to him via the guild menu.
