[Master Merchant] ESO crashing when M.M. tries to scan a newly joined guild

ESO appears to crash whenever M.M. tries to scan a newly joined guild. The guild in question is a very big and active guild with a lot of sales.

Any way I can make M.M. not crash my game after this starts? Whenever I select the guild on guild screen, the game just freezes and I get a crash report.

Hey, there! You need to go into the settings menu for MM and then on the "delay initialization" option. If you're having trouble getting the game to not crash, you can do this manually in the MM saved variable file. Search for "delay init", and change the value to "true".

I've noticed that I just mustn't really click on "SALES" when it is scanning. Not a problem anymore, since I just dodge it. Thanks for the help though.

That will help, too, but as you build more and more data, it will eventually crash your game. Philgo and I highly recommend turning this setting on before you get to the point where you HAVE to manually edit your saved variables.

It may be related to the fact the addon was not updated until yesterday and there may have been some incompatibility with the new patch UI version. Make sure you have downloaded the latest version. You can also have a small program called Minion do that automatically for you.

Nothing changed in the API that would have caused this error. Usually, we find an error of this type is related to corrupted data, and running the /mm clean function handles that.

Since Morrowind I have not been able to run MM. Turns my game into a slide show. I do have an older system and it might be that it pushes just over the limit for me.

I've installed and removed it so many times, tried each update. Removed all addons and installed just MM.

Tried figuring out if there is a way to have in only check/ update prices/ sales when I manually do the scan. basically turn off the always listening function. Have not see how. Is there a way to do this?

What you're experiencing isn't typical. It sounds like you've got some bad data in your saved variable files somewhere, which is causing MM to need to do a deep dive into the guild sales history every time it scans. When things are working properly, it's better to let it scan frequently, as then it's only really a superficial scan.

When you deleted and reinstalled MM, did you also delete the saved variable files? You'll want to do that, if you haven't. Make sure you're completely logged out of the game, or it won't take. I'd give that a try and see if it helps your issues.

There isn't currently a way to update sales only on demand, but you can adjust the time somewhat. It may be possible to add the setting that you're wanting, and that will be looked into for future updates.

ty for replying. I have deleted saved variables every time. It's close to seven different tries since Morrowind was introduced and I started having this issue. I am running 8GB of RAM and notice that I have 76% usage in with just the game running. next time I try I will check that % is.

I know that my system is on the lower end of requirements It might be time to bite that bullet but seeing to squeeze the last bit before doing so.

Do you launch the game from the launcher, or directly from the .exe? Just curious. It's my understanding that there have been memory leak issues in the past that are somewhat lessened when launching directly from the .exe.

Having run a lower end of requirements rig with 8 gigs of RAM AND MM in the past.... well....I couldn't really run much in the way of addons outside of MM.
