Idea for weapon furnishings

Since the Homestead launch a year ago, a vast numbers of players have been pining for some way to display armor and weapons in their houses. Mannequins, weapon racks, and other methods have all been discussed, but I'm sure the underlying issue preventing most of this is that rendering a persistent example of every player's custom-dyed, various leveled items would be a monumental task. I'm going to focus on weapons for this post, but I think armor could be treated basically the same way, but there are so many fewer weapon styles to deal with (as compared to light/medium/heavy variants of each armor type) that it makes more sense to begin here.

Focusing on the weapons themselves - Create standalone weapon furnishings that drop from mobs where you would expect to find the appropriate racial style.

Example: In Reaper's March you could have a chance at looting a [Khajiit greatsword], or a [Khajiit shield]. Depending on the ambitions of ZOS staff, this could be expanded to include different material levels as well. Ex: [Khajiit mace, iron], with the dropped furnishings taking on the style and material-appropriate appearance.

The basic racial styles could be restricted to the zone(s) most associated with that race (Khajiit = Reaper's March; Argonian = Shadowfen, etc). The basic epic styles (barbaric, daedric, ancient elf, primal) could drop anywhere in the game, but daedric might have a higher chance to drop from actual daedra. Dwarven ruins could drop dwarven weapons.

All the other motifs could drop in the areas where you would currently expect to receive the motif chapters as rewards/drops.
IE - Gold Coast: Any mob = Assassin's League, Kvatch Arena mobs = Order of the Hour, Limenauruus, his adds, and overland minotaurs = Minotaur style, Dark Brotherhood quest rewards for DB weapons. Vvardenfell = Ashlander, Telvanni, Buoyant Armiger, etc.

Dungeon/Trial-specific motifs would only drop their equivalent weapon furnishings from mobs within the respective dungeon/trial. IE - Dro-m'Athra weapon furnishings would only drop in Maw of Lorkhaj, Dreadhorn in Falkreath Hold, etc.

Lastly, glass and ebony furnishings would be purchasable with writ vouchers since the motifs are, or soon will be (glass), restricted to the merchant.

These would be stand-alone furnishings with no corresponding blueprints, diagrams, etc. They would be unbound and able to be sold/traded. If these were introduced, a half-dozen, or so, furnishing plans could also be released for things such as [small weapon display rack, wall mount] and [weapon stand, vertical]. Of course, since the weapons themselves are individual furnishings, if you would rather have a dagger stuck in the wall "holding" that gold bounty sheet, then go for it! Is that a glowing Dro-m'Athra battleaxe hidden in the rafters?

Unlike the requests for all the legerdemain treasures that do not have pre-existing 3-D renderings to be converted to furnishings, every weapon/style in the game already exists in basic form. I think this would be a great way to introduce weapon furnishings into the game with minimal workload for the ZOS design team.

On a final note. I excluded armor because there are only 10 weapon appearances to implement (daggers, swords, axes, maces, mauls, battleaxes, greatswords, bows, staves (they all look alike on the surface), and shields (not technically a weapon, but still hand-held)). With armor you have a total of 21 different item appearances (head, body, hand, feet, legs, shoulders, waist - x3 for each of the differing armor weights). Plus, outside of strewing the armor on the floor or attempting to stack it in some rough, humanoid shape, there is really no good way to easily display it.

Anyway, just a thought to toss out there to give players a new option for furnishing, and partially sate the desire to display item sets in their house. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks!
