Let's talk about the furniture limits (again)

The new Hew's Bane house is the biggest house ever released in the game. It's positively massive. And yet it still just has a furniture limit of 700 items...

I might be inclined to buy it if I could actually decorate it. But that's impossible with 700 items. The furnished version of the house with half of the item limit filled up literally looks empty. You wouldn't be able to even decorate half of the yard (or conversely, half of the interior) before running out of furniture slots. You could fit 3 Hunding's Palatial Halls in it, and you can't even decorate Hundings with 600 items...

The Hew's Bane palace is fabulous, but I agree that the 700 item limit is absurdly low for such a palatial space. I currently have 13 houses, but won't be buying any more housing until the item limit is raised substantially.

The huge crown store houses (like the three caves, the island, and this new palace) should have at least 2000 slots.

Base game large houses should have at least 800-1000.

Base game manors should have 1000-1200.

    This is with ESO+ active.

I don't know what the hell they are thinking, releasing such huge place with the current available slots, against which so many threads have been made and countless complains have showed up.

It seems they give ZERO f**** to users feedback.

Not buying this one and the reason is always the same, low items slots number (in this case beyond unacceptable and totally ridiculous for such gigantic place).

I don't know about you but i want to make my house feel "lived in" and also I play as a Telvanni, therefore I want books scattered around, with wine bottles etc. To show my characters personality off, I like my house but it just feels lifeless and empty.

I have a dining area with one lousy plate on it, it looks so sad and lonely. My kitchen room is bare as hell because I've tried to put life into other parts of the house too

they're just about to ditch support for the 32-bit client, which was the major bottleneck. Assuming they don't necessarily care about keeping parity between PC and console versions, and given that we already have word from on high that they're Looking Into It, it's absolutely a safe bet that increased item limits are coming................ Soon.

A limited-time crown-only house should definitely have vastly more furniture slots considering how much money they are asking people to buy them for.

That said, it would be nice to see some new medium-sized houses.

I feel the homes you buy with gold the crown store only ones should come with much bigger slots to begin with. You are right the scale of these homes with the small 700 is laughable.

A lot of people in my housing guild are being force to cut the homes in half or block off the house all together and just do outside to make them work.

They really need to push the slot limit if they want to keep selling these huge homes. I know I will be skipping on this just bc of the slot limitation.

  • Smith4HirePmMe2Order
Ive been begging for them to finish housing for awhile.
A much more realistic and sensible item limit would be as follows:
    60 for 'broom closets'
    150 for apartments.
Small homes should have like 300-400 items.
    Medium should have 600-800.
    Large should have 1000-1400
and XL should have 1800-2800 easy...
the worst part is even THAT might not be enough for a few of the XL houses...

these numbers dont reflect non-eso+ and Eso+. they are just a general range to make housing make more sense, & make players happy. After they tackle that issue ied love to see them tackle the other housing related issues in my signature.

The housing item limit issue has been one of (if not) THE biggest issues with housing sense it was released.
If they fixed that and even half of the stuff on my list i wouldnt care if they released anymore DLC ied be happy with the game as is.

Quality of life changes that desperately need to happen in order make ESO Better for everyone!
Forget new content for awhile & forget adding new DLC, this is a list of what is actually needed in the game.
1: Change the ESO+ Housing item limit from 2x to 3x. (preferably 4x)
2: Add a working Exit wayshrine item for housing.
(Needs to be added as a special achievement item for finding all wayshrines in the game, & should use the same slots & operate the exit shrines in cyro, where you cant port to them but you can use them to leave the house and go anywhere u want)
3: Add a GUILD Banker & Store NPC for housing.
(willing to pay 5k crowns if it does both Or 2.5k crowns each if they split them and have 2 Npcs(1 for each banker/store))
4: Add Writ boards and Writ Drop-off's for housing.
(willing to pay 2.5k crowns for each board+1k crowns per Drop off box=11k total crowns
5: Cut the crown price of Mundus stones IN HALF, and refund the difference in crowns to the few people who have already bought them.
(If Zo$ was my dog, ied roll up a news paper and smack you in the nose repeatedly for this. 4k per stone x13 stones? what were you thinking?!!
6: Multi Attuneable crafting stations. (this one change will solve so many issues with item limits. Make it so you have to 'feed' existing attuned tables to the new station to unlock its drop down effects. This kills 2 birds with 1 stone.)
7: Change the amount of transmutation gems needed to change a trait from 50 to 10, Increase the drop rates of all Geode sources by 10x.
8: Release more crafting recipes in the game for housing, Dark elf bed of coals/Outdoor and indoor fires/Orcish Column Brazier/Imperial Forge/Beehives/Grape vinyards/smaller greenhouse than the one currently ingame (half the size), We know they are already in the game. These were on the original housing PTS then like 60% of the good stuff disappeared when housing hit the live server.
9: ESO+ life time membership option.
10: Permanent craft bag unlock for crowns.
11: REMOVE BIND ON PICKUP FOR EVERYTHING EXCEPT QUEST ITEMS! PLZ ABOLISH THIS TRASH RESTRICTION!!! Change all current non quest BOP items to BOE. PvPers don't like being forced to run pve for gear, and pve-ers don't like being forced to run pvp for their gear either. The solution is so simple let people run the content they like and trade their drops on the open market..
12: Add New Fishing rods that you can unlock with bonuses for catching rate fish. spending 6 hours trying to get ONE blue fish using all of the buffs currently available is cancer, especially when you have to do this for 12 fish per zone times 40+ zones. In-fact just overhaul fishing totally and make it like Farcry 5 where you KNOW exactly which holes and locations the each of the rares will spawn. Make the T2 bait ACTUALLY & NOTICEABLY WORK, and combine it with better rods & better fishing related food buff so we can just reel in the rare fish like crazy. Even with all that its still gonna take a week or more of grinding to get all the fish, but thats better than a LITERAL FREAKING YEAR of fishing just for a housing boat item that doesn't even do anything...
13: Playable Games inside houses (basically just make all the decorative game furnishings actually intractable so we can play against other players. This would give a nice bump to housing utility and community building, RPers would also probably appreciate this).
14: A 'Port to Guild House' Option on the main guild page.
15: Add Functional Things to housing/guild halls that your guild can contribute to unlock as a group effort. An example of stuff would be like a 5% damage buff during overland content for all guild members, or buffs for dungeons/trails. Another example would be unlock tokens for people with super hard to get achievements like someone with the grand master fisher, they could donate a token to the guild that unlocks usable fishing plots inside the guild that the GM/House owner could place down. This would then let people travel to the guild hall and collect a Daily account Limit from housing harvesting nodes. Nothing crazy that would break the economy, just like 30 or so resources from each daily harvest able nodes for each of the skills. It would be even better if they were special enhanced versions of the normal ore/wood etc. that gave a refining bonus for tempers like double the chance to get tempers. (double the chance to get tempers on such a small amount of resources wouldn't actually make a big impact on economy, but the COOL factor would be off the charts so i see no reason why this couldn't be done).
16: Solo Dungeons, Much like solo trials this would be a 1 person equivalent of a 4 person dungeon. It would be even cooler if you could have your new companion NPC come with you on these, but we will have to see how good that companion system is first.

700 slot would be merely enough to decorate staple house for me.
And for the biggest houses we got 700 slots which is ridicolous. I mean, I don't know about you guys but I like to make my home look cozy/nice in details but with this limit I can go only for a half empty home look. :(

The problem is that this house will probably be a limited time, crown store item. But with current item limits, it's not going to be viable and I for one am not going to spend €100-150 on this house when it only has 700 item limit.
But... I will be disappointed if the item count is increased by say double but this house is no longer available - this is my dilemma
I think ZOS should focus on the small/medium houses until they resolve whatever bottleneck is preventing them from increasing the item limit

I'm the proud owner of many small and medium homes, but only owner of two large homes that I kind of regret buying. This is because I can't decorate these adequately with the current limits. I own zero notable homes, because with the current slots we have, it really feels like a waste of coin. :/

Indeed it would make excellent sense to re-release past CS houses once the limit goes up but... it wouldn't surprise me one bit for them to have this house come and go, never to be seen again!! Much of the decisions made around the housing system seem not to make sense.

I played one game that had item limits and even set places that were the only place to set items. After a year or two they said screw it and let us cram as much stuff in there as possible and anywhere. You kinda just expected to have to stand there a minute or two while things rendered but it was glorious.

There is another way, if the slot limits are to be retained, and that's to provide combo items instead of us having to assemble them out of multiple individual ones, e.g. a rack of weapons, instead of a rack, and multiple weapons placed on it. A stack of books, for the neat, and a pile, for the rest of us, And so on. I think a table with the food already on it was mentioned. You may want to hand-craft the main dining table, but side-tables of ready-made selections would be useful.

The slots are limited because the server has to track these items, in order for visitors to see the right décor. If the chunks were larger, then the count could be lower. Each client machine would know the pre-built assembly, so it just needs placing.

So what multi-item assemblies would we like to see?

It affects load times. It takes me about 2-3 minutes to load into my house on an HDD.

But housing owners should be able to make that choice. If they want slow load times into their houses, so be it.
