Stuck at "Requesting character load" with generic error message

I have the Steam version of the game, Im able to log into the character selection but its been like a week i cant get past that without a VPN, always getting the same error "An error has occurred", customer support insists in blaming my ISP and giving non-answers, im sure this has something to do with your DDOS mitigation, i understand the need to protect yourselves but its not fair denying a normal customer like me the access to the game.
