Cloak is still broken - just a reminder, Zos

Dark cloak is still being broken by abilities that shouldn't break it.

It's also breaking sneak "behind" the cloak, meaning that if you're in sneak and you cloak there is often a second where you pop out of sneak when it ends.

It's also being targeted by spam range abilities that shouldn't see through it.

Note that when cloak is being used, an error message often appears in the upper right "cannot use that ability right now." Maybe a portion of cloaks functionality isn't proccing?

For dark cloak to function as intended, it probably needs to go back to offering a short snare immunity or purge. Whatever is done to fix it...it's been a chronically busted ability that makes it hard to survive as a nightblade, especially when you hit us with forty other nerfs this last update.

to be clear - it's broken for both sides of the fight. The fact that it behaves unpredictably offers unfair advantages to the other party sometimes, but sometimes the nightblade. The other night a stamblade was dark cloaking THROUGH a piercing mark I'd placed on him. He was in sneak the entire time...when he cloaked he disappeared to me, then when his cloak ended he was in crouch/sneak but my mark was still active, allowing me to see him. Cloak isn't supposed to allow a NB to disappear through a mark.

And to be fair, it's hard to assess whether it's more that cloak is broken, or if stealth and sneak for EVERYONE is broken. I personally think both cloak and sneak are broken, but maybe it's just an issue with sneak. Since update 14 characters often pop in and out of sneak at random, and sneak is often broken (eye opens) for no reason with no enemies nearby and no incoming/outgoing damage.

    the prob with cloak is that its a spammable you cant hit me and i can do free dmg on you abilitity...

    stealth abilities are fundementaly broken in a Game where you can spam all the abilities.....

    you fix ALL the issues it has and bassicaly will turn into a damn OP i Win ability with 100% chance of escapes from anything.....

    i personaly want them to Nerf cloak and give nightblades other different Defensive abilities....

    yes agreed, Cloak seems fine where it is. Not having to spam it and having more defence options sounds good to me

    Give me major mending and I'll never use cloak again. Pretty sure most NB will say that.Give cloak or Double take a snare immunity will help Mag blades a lot.Stamblades have to stay in cloak or we pretty much can't heal.

    To clarify, I'm not complaining about how cloak is SUPPOSED to work, I'm complaining that it's described as working one way then completely malfunctioning. (although I did offer a suggested change, but only because it might fix what's breaking the ability).

    For example, I did some testing last night. Cloak is absolutely breaking sneak for a second or two at the end of the ability. I wanted to test some more to ensure it wasn't detect pots...which are fair game. But it can't be...the cloak break malfunctions around NPCs too...and alone in open terrain.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno what we (three NBs who tested) are experiencing is this: you're in stealth, no cloak. You cloak just to make sure you remain unseen. You initiate no other abilities, and take no damage. The cloak ends and you are still in crouch with sufficient stamina. About 10-20% of the time, the eye opens and the system makes the unsneak audio cue. The toon will slowly return to stealth. I can verify that humans see us, lol. Another 10% of the time the character just stands up and is entirely out of sneak.

    There seems to be something wrong with the very end of the cloak ability. This is the point where sneak is being broken and people are able to target most any ability on us. If I'm being chased by four players, it's at this point that I'm getting slammed by every single one of them...they're meters away, and there's no way they're all using detect skills. I'm not marked or snared. The same thing happens if I test with cloak at a resource with no humans around.

    Cloak is broken in 2 ways.

    OP: Make st attacks cease to exist, even whilst rooted. Completely untargetable and spammable.

    UP: Spaghetti code means everything pulls you out.
