Before starting: I did search the forums and read numerous other post about Error 1002 "Access Invalid" after I encountered it myself, and the majority of the advice is just to repair the launcher. When I started the repair it wanted to download the whole game (~44GB), and so I cancelled that because I do not believe my whole game was corrupted or anything, and I do not intend to download 44GBs.
Let me give all the details:
Two days ago McAfee anti-virus picked up two items that it wanted to remove. I do not remember what the files were, but I think one was something like "Artemis!" and the other was "Generic.PUP". I removed these items as was recommended, and later that day when I started the ESO Launcher, it gave me an "Update" button instead of a "Play" button. I imagine McAfee has something to do with this because before removing the files I played perfectly fine, and after removing them things started going wonky. Anyways, I clicked update, it downloaded a very small file, then starting verifying and downloading ~38GBs. I cancelled this, because no ways was my problem with the whole game. I restarted my computer, and once I restarted the launcher it downloaded a small file again, and then only started downloading 6GBs of data. This was still in my view perhaps too much for what I might be dealing with, but I left it running and once it finished repairing, I ran into Error 1002 for the first time. I restarted the launcher a couple times and each time encountered Error 1002.
At this point I tried repairing the launcher again, and this time it started downloading 44GBs. Once again, I cancelled this repair because of how large the download was and restarted the computer and my launcher. Finally, when I repaired the game it only downloaded 1.5GBs of data, which I allowed it to do, and once this was completed everything seemed fine because I had the "Play" button on the launcher again and no Error 1002. Except now when I start the game it just crashes before any of the logos come up or anything has happened.
I imagine my trouble with this could be rooted in not allowing the game to fully repair by re-downloading 44Gbs, but doing this makes no sense to me.
Any help?
