Heavy Armor MagSorc?

I'm looking to be a little more survivable in PvP as a MagSorc I currently wear 5 Spinner/5 Lich/2 Infernal Guardian (5/1/1). As opposed to the Spinner set, I was thinking of moving the 4 armor pieces there to heavy armor for more survivability. Impen on my Spinner doesn't do a lot since it's light armor anyway.

What heavy armor set might better accompany Lich here? I've seen some builds using heavy Julianos or Seducer. Lich and Seducer seems like regen overkill (at the expense of DPS), but maybe not with the nerf to resources that's coming?

I guess the question is also if using heavy armor on a MagSorc in PvP is even best once Morrowind drops.

P.S. I know I have shields, but it just kinds sucks if they fall for even a couple of seconds. Even a 2-3 seconds w/o shields, and I'm toast.

I have not. That looks interesting for sure. Since it's a dungeon set, I guess it can't hurt to farm it.

The question is if I'm just better off just slotting and using structured entropy. Although that's another darn thing to slot and then to remember to buff along with shields, power surge, etc... That might get old with 6 sec shields, 12 second entropy and 30 sec surge (on console).

Also, if I were to go the heavy armor route here, would Divine or Impen be better? Maybe infused on the 2 big pieces.

I suppose it's all tradeoffs and what works best for you. I just don't like getting quickly burst down.

You can go several different directions (plus you have surge)

You can go with Guile for health pwnage
You can go reactive/defensive set
You can go with a good combo I use for a similar build, TK, Alchemist, Transmutation
Black Rose seems viable
Wyrd is a good choice for anti poisons and anti snares etc
You can even use Pariah,

What style you going for?

If I had to describe the play style, I'd say I don't want to be burst down too quickly if shields go down, and something that works well small scale in Imperial City/Sewers.

I'm Magicka, so I don't know that Guile or Reactive work well. And with incoming constitution nerf, Black Rose isn't going to be as good as it is now. I don't want to go entirely tanky, so I'm not sure about the Pariah set.

Seems like Rattlecage might be a good balance with the sustain of Lich. I currently have spell damage glyphs on my Lich Jewelry. I'm thinking I may need to change that back to regen when Morrowind drops as well, so the extra spell damage of Rattlecage might help to fill that gap.

Rattlecage has never really appealed to me and switching to heavy armor is really gonna hurt your resources and damage. If you go heavy armor, it might be best to stack damage using Julianos, 1 Molag kena, then 1 shadow rend for the recovery. Run willpower with it, and a maelstrom staff. Idk tho. I'm not a fan of heavy armor on my mag sorc.

I'm making a solid case against rattlecage, because power surge exists and is pretty much all the health sustaiin you need if you keep dealing damage, Combine it with 5 spinners with regen/cost reduction jewlery, because you will need the penetration you lose from wearing heavy instead of light and spinners gives max magicka that you need. then 1 medium monster helm for that 5/1/1 unless you are going with a julianos stave for budget purposes since i know spinners staves are a pretty penny.

And next update you'd be unable to sustain in heavy armor, even possibly with Lich. That and you don't have a direct heal unless you're using twilight (and God help you if you are). So that 8% healing received is less useful. I've tried heavy armor on a Mag Sorc, it was fun and all, but light armor was superior in almost everyway.

This. Heavy Armor is very bad combo with Shields, when looking at it from an efficiency angle. All that resistance does not matter one bit, when shielded.

I also loath the way i have to spam shields, and get oneshot if they get down. So I have made a MagSorc, Heavy Armor, No Shields build you can use. It is actually quite fun. Only downside is, it can feel like a poor mans StamSorc;

Enchants all Spell Power + Prismatic on ALL pieces.

Lingering Health + Health + Invisibility (invis is just bonus. We need the heals to proc troll king, and the health for Major Fortitude)

The build sits at app. 1500 Regen when idle, and hits about 4500 with Troll King. We have the absolute maximum possible Health Regen in NO CP which is at a whopping 88%. So that 1500 Troll King turns into 2800...

We use double destro, because we need to have Clench and Ele Drain on backbar, for CC + Resources. But you can pretty much setup the bars to your liking, as long as you have Dark Deal slottet, as that is the primary Resources tool, since we have plenty of Stam.

Using Soul Assault on this build is highly recommended, as it synergizes extemely well with the passive tankiness provided.

Anyhow, i could write a full essay on the thoughts and extensive theorycrafting that went on for this build, but let's not do that.

If you´re about to use HA on sorc I actually recomend using Seducer. On my sorc I use:

5 Seducer
3 Willpower
1 Kena
2 Magnus (1 shoulder + resto/destro)

Since sustain will take a huge hit in next patch Seducer isn´t that bad.

Yeah, I've tried black rose setups, and heavy Julianos. The main reasons Ive wanted heavy to work is for an alternate way to recover Stam for more dodgerolls.. But with the coming constitution nerf.....

But you spend so much time dark exchanging... It Does play like stamsorc.. Lol

I kinda decided against the HA after trying it out. The RNG gods were on my side like NEVER before, and I got 4 pieces of Impen and a Sharpened Inferno staff in ONE run of Vaults of Madness! I'm sure I will get nothing I want on future dungeon farming runs for quite some time, lol.

Anyway, I didn't feel like the survivability was greatly increase (as was pointed out since I used shields anyway), and dropping Spinners was a big hit to my DPS. After moving back to Spinners, I'm just going to stay there.
