My Magblade Gank build isn't doing enough damage when everything is executed properly????

OK this is my build

champion 305 dark elf
champion points: typical magblade champion point set up
mundus stone: shadow

bar 1- blue Stygian Flame staff
lotus fan, impale/swallow soul, conceal weapon, shadowy cloak, inner light, soul harvest

bar 2- blue stygian resto staff
merciless resolve, mirage, mass hysteria, siphoning attacks, swallow soul/summon shade, dampen magicka, devouring swarm

gear
- blue stygian head
- blue elegant robes
- purple elegant arms
- purple molag kena shoulders
- purple stygian sash
- blue elegant legs
- purple elegant boots
- green elegant ring
- green elegant ring
- purple stygian amulet

max mag and health potions

i do all the buffs and then execute the kill correctly but IT NEVER DOES THAT MUCH DAMAGE

Get all your gear to purple quality and gold out your weapons

dependant on your target - it's really tough to burst folks down these days...

how are you buffing your spell damage prior to attacking?

gear definitely plays an important role in extacly how much damage you output...

when you finally get past cp160 the goal is to acquire gear of at least epic (purple) quality...particulary if you're into pvp, if for no other reason - because just about everyone else you compete against will have epic or better gear...

you can get the gear through guild stores or farming yourself...being a crafter is helpful because you'll be able to take green or blue armor/weapons and improve them yourself...

key point, and full disclosure - i suck 1v1...i'm a heck of of zerg warrior and I have really nice gear, but, I'm still learning how to fight one on one...

number one lesson - having your rotation of abilities down/memorized, is not good enough...you have to be able to be comfortable enough to watch your opponent and react off of them - particularly if you can't simply "burst" them down...

that means - getting really good with block, dosgerolls, shields, heals and popping pots...

keep your spirits up and your mind open

I'm doing the normal merci resolve - inner light - shadowy cloak - fully charged flame attack - lotus fan - soul harvest

not sure what platform you are on (can't see signatures on my phone)...you could also try turning the resource numbers/percentages on so you can see exactly how much health you're different targets have...

I prefer a clean ui...i finally just turned my ability bar back on (i play 8 different characters and it gets a little confusing at times)...however, I know in order for me to get to that next step in proficiency - i really need to start looking at numbers...

in getting ready for battlegrounds, I've been working hard on my 1v1 skills...

I've collected some BiS gear and have what I believe are really synergistic and effective ability rotations - my big challenge comes when I run through my rotations a couple of times and the player I'm fighting is till standing there, ready for rounds 2 through 5

I've never participated in much dueling, so, I'm trying to engage in more 1v1 situations in IC and cyro - just to try to develop better fighting skills...

Are you wearing 3 body pieces medium? If you arent using 5 pieces of light you are missing out on a lot of penetration.

Is your staff sharpened?

Are you using spell power and spell crit pots?

You need gold weapons asap.

Get purple gear.
Get gold weapons (too much damage lost).
Get more cp?

Wouldn't it be better to have your merciless on your front flame bar for the 8% single target dmg? Proc merciless, cloak + inner light + shoot?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but in your OP you only have 4 Stygian equiped and 6 elegant... You need to swap out one of the elegant pieces for stygian, so you can have the 5 piece stygian buff.

I am pretty sure that blobs_eso has posted a video stating that you can farm for named blue stygian arcane jewelry otherwise the jewelry will be robust.

I made a change later that said I had 5 both but now I switched out my Stygian for clever alchemist

you want stygian staves and jewelry (blue rings from cold harbour public dungeon) the rings are arcane, 1 armor chest would be best, 5 clever alchemist. 1 kena shoulder, all divines. sharpened destro, defending resto.

i use witch mothers potent brew purple food.

destro bar
agony/crippling grasp , cloak, inner light, flame reach, impale, soul harvest

resto bar
fear, cloak, concealed, merciless, healing ward, your choice of ulti i like to play with ice comet.

at 600 cp you would aim for 100 dmg 50 crit 50 staff, the other trees are up to you, make sure you have enough regen to keep up perma stealth.

stygian will get changed in morrowind though to 20% on ya skill dmg rather than spell power/magicka

this build calls for close kills due to heavy attack charge time and cloak timer,

merc > potion > light > cloak > charge heavy into ulti > animation cancel ultimate > flame reach > bash > light attack animation cancel execute...

most people you come up against are dead on ultimate

as others have stated you will want at least purple on everything and at least a gold inferno staff.

if you're doing heavy attacks from ranged you can cloak before it hits to guarentee the crit.


getting the kills is easy with the gank build, its the escapes you want to be learning, and when fighting the unkillable, just remember that you can reset the fight and get them on your own terms (watch for buffs dropping)

quick edit , i almost forgot, you want major sorcery potions for the 20% increased spell dmg, i mainly use the ones you can buy for ap, but its also good to have the spell power/detect pots at hand for when there are other nb's around

I never needed gold weapons to gank (seriously elitist to say it's necessary, mathematically accurate to say it's better) but what are the traits on your gear? Divines is best for ganking by far. And that's when getting purple gear, which is achievable, will make an impact. Have you considered switching from soul harvest to soul tether or even soul assault?
