game keeps resetting to first time start up

so my SO started playing the game and I have reinstalled it on his PC. reinstalled is operative word as I used to have a copy there that I myself played a little (long story).
the problem is - every time he starts up the game, he has to go through signing all the EULA's and then instead of his username - he gets mine on log in as saved name. every. single. time. I have no idea what could be causing it as I don't have these issues. it simultaneously does NOT save the info, and does, but a wrong one.
windows 7 pc, downloaded the game directly from this site, gold edition though, vs my original imperial digital.
