Total PvP Noob question: Starter gear for stam DK getting started in PvP

I'm a CP 310 stam Nord DK and I've never PvP'ed. I want to give it a try. All the meta builds online seem to be built around sets you get in Cyrodil: black rose, shadow walker, etc. I need something else decent to jump in with.

I can craft 7-trait sets, and want to craft a decent set for starter PvP so that I can quickly jump in and have a chance of not getting totally insta-wrecked. Can you recommend a good armor set (or combo of sets)? I have many monster sets, and imagine that I want to combine a monster set, at least one crafted set and something else, like I do for my PvE builds. I assume I want impen on as many pieces as possible, and heavy armor (because, let's be honest, i will suck for a good long while and want to have some survivability). But I'm open to recommendations to the contrary.

Hundings I guess.
And then buy (or farm) an overland set with some regen.

Right now that bone pirate thing seems really popular though with the new jester food. Paired with hulking.

Well it depends on what campaigns cp or no cp, I'd highly recommend Azuras Star first, as no cp doesn't really have any "cancerous" builds.

The best way to think of it, is have a damage set and a sustain set. And obviously the easiest damage set is hundings, I like clever alchemist but it's not for everyone and might not be the best starter. For sustain, yes black rose is pretty good and you can buy, but if you're using SB and 2H which seems likely, then you'll need either a black rose shield or 1h wpn and they're very expensive.

Hulking draugr is awesome as a sustain set but you'll want to pair it a damage set that has some health like ravager. That combo is very powerful and recommended by many. Fairly easily bought. And draugr needs to be farmed.

Werewolf hide is easily bought as well and is a decent damage and sustain set with extra ulti gen.

Bloodspawn is a standard with great ulti gen and a phys resist proc.

Selenes is a good burst set.

Tremorscale is cancer but a lot of people use it.

In the end you're going to want to play around and experiment. But as stated, hundings is definitely an easy damage set to get your hands on.

I would use Troll King or Bloodspawn for a defensive 2pc and Selene or Velidreth if you want a offensive 2 PC.

Another option for a sustain set is Tavas Favor.

Selene's/Tavas/Bone Pirate is more of a high sustain build but could put it good amount of ultimates and use Selene's for burst.

Troll King monster set is in game for the NB class. A good DK understanding your healing buffs and using them properly you don't need troll King. You should use slimcraw, it in game for the DK class. If in group and someone​ gives the minor berserk buff, then use blood spawn.

Then bone pirate and the new throne drink with hundings or seventh legion or spriggans and you should be good to go!

Hundings rage and spriggan is pretty easy to obtain.

Hundings/Spriggan combo is pretty good to start. The things to remember about Hundings is many players are setup to defend against crit attacks. The Viper set is good if you plan on putting cp into poison damage. Shadow of Red Mountain set works nice with a DKs fire damage buff also.

I can give you very good builds if you tell me the purpose of it.

It is for solo PvP? Small-Scale? Large-Scale? Zerg? Duel?

If you are new to PvP I also highly recommend you to watch videos, there's a lot of very good players who make videos playing StamDk, I've learned a lot with videos because you can perfectly see what the player is doing and you can improve a lot.
