New to Mag Sorc Need Advice

So I've been playing for a about a year. I have 2 DK's, 1 magic and 1 stamina. I have 690 champion points. I decided to make a magicka Sorc the other day. I was wondering about the gear choices for pvp.

Right now I'm thinking 5 spinners for sure. The other sets are a toss up though. I do have a sharpened inferno maelstrom staff, and a crap trait maelstrom resto staff also. I thought about running 5 spinner, maelstrom inferno, 2 slimecraw, and 3 willpower, however, I'm concerned with sustain issues. My race is a high elf.

Is it possible that I could have sustain issues?

I wouldn't suggest Slimecraw, it just doesn't give enough to offset the potential utility you could get from engine guardian or pirate skele. Can you use it, sure. But just keep in mind that you're only going to see a dmg increase of a couple hundred vs just running 2 max mag pieces.

Sustain is definitely big in pvp. I use 5 seducer with 5 spinners and a vma destro/resto in pvp, with vulnerability poisons on the destro, works nice. Defending is the best trait for resto in pvp, so if your vma resto is not defending just use a random defending resto. I tried using rapid regen to make use of the vma resto enchant but didn't notice the extra magicka, and I prefer combat prayer anyway so I would argue you don't need a vma resto, although the extra crit is probably useful for heals, and you can put vulnerability poisons on it too

More sustain/damage can be achieved through jewel glyphs depending on what you need. 3x spell damge glyphs is doable but having one cost reduction is more comfortable. Damage is ok thanks to spinners and random burst from vulnerability poison proc (and combat prayer if you use it) but you might want some cp in shattering blows for when you go up against other sorcs. Experiment with mage mundus for more magicka or atronach mundus for more regen depending on what you need. I keep switching between them and can't make up my mind. If you end up using atronach mundus you can defo get away with 3x spell dmg glyphs. Don't forget harness magicka is also good for sustain, I don't usually use it myself but I will if I duel another sorc.

Definitely need something for sustain. Take a look at lich. You only need that 5-piece to proc on your back-bar - and it stays up when you switch back to say, a spinners staff. Lets you go 5/5/2

To be honest I just really, REALLY don't wanna farm for the lich set...... lol

I'd switch spinners for amberplasma or suducer. You already have good penetration from light armour passivs and sharpened staff. Then yo ucan probably run thief mundus, full spell dmg enchants on jewelry and a monster set of your choice if you play with cp.

Crypt of Hearts 1 is so easy though. Once you get the jewelry just play on normal and run it 6,000 times to get the resto staff. Best of luck best Ive gotten is a Precise Resto after many many many runs.

I have to say that dungeon actually has a good story to it. I finally paid attention to it the one time.

It's not that far off. If there's one piece left you need, chances are remote that you'll ever get it.

You'll do fine with charged (better chance to proc poisons), sharpened (more damage on back bar skills like streak), powered (better heals), or defending. Chances are you'll get one of those.

The way sorc goes, most people run with one damage (Julianos, spinner, etc) and one sustain set (Seducer, warlock, Lich, etc). Shields are expensive to keep up.

I have infused and I really like it.. Starting my rotation on the back-bar - its an light-attack, weaved with curse. The glyph for spell damage on the infused staff is giving 407 extra spelldmg. Then bar-swap to finish off the burst rotation with sharpened.

So when your abilities hit, you get the 407 on all your abilities AND the penetration from sharpened. I may gold it one day to increase that amount even further.

And saying that - I'm not even using it at the mo.. If you get lucky and het some 1-handed and/or shield drops.. you could back-bar those (if using necropotence). Lich is good for recov, so you don't really need to odd resto heavy attack. You get your burst heal from twilight matriarch so don't need any resto staff abilities.. but it means you only need to wear 3 pieces of lich clothing/jewelly. There's a sharpened lich flame staff as a named drop which you see quite often.. then you can have 5 necropotences always on AND have space for monster set.

@Hutch679 Other than that, if you want to run BiS, I suggest you use lich and also burning spellweave. This build has 0 weaknesses in terms of stats, you can go wrong with your stamina if not careful. So the build is 5 BSW, on destro and on body, 5 lich on resto and on jewelry, and 2pc IIambris. Very strong stats. What I do is a make builds, and then I wait a really long time before I put the build together because I cannot stand running the same dungeon hundreds of times before I get everything that I need. Which is why I only play my nightblade. 8 characters both Magicka and Stamina but no gear.

I'm on xbox one and I've never had an issue with hard casting frags. I wait for my hands to glow and bang. Lol maybe you have some ui glitch caused by mods on pc or something.
