Dual Wield

Does it work at all in PvP? I was thinking of running dual wield/sword and board on my stam DK.

34.1% of the replies will be "hell, no". 17% will say "you will be booted from raidnight if you do not have DW as a stam char". 32% will say "i play stamblade and it works fine". 85% will say you need to l2p. There will also be the hardcore "play as you want"-faction who answer the same stuff on every question, no matter how harebrained it is.

My thoughts from a pvp perspective: as long as you have a charge skill (which you will have from s&b), it works great, its biggest advantage being full 5-5-2.

As a dk, you will miss a bow for lack of ranged skills.

In small scale (I mean real small, like 2 to 3 players), 2h is much stronger. In large groups, 2h is useless and you will need DW.

Thank you for the input! I was indeed planning on running Invasion if I went that route.

It can work. Depending on playstyle, you will lack an execute and burst heal, invasion I don't really fancy because I want to cc them when I want to with reverb bash.

Something like this will be interesting though I never tried:

Troll king(makes up for lack of rally)
Fasalla or alchemist or seventh legion
    Bonepirate

    Tristat drink
Heavy defile dot based build for very high pressure
Very good sustain for no cp
    Reflect for range builds

Only a purifying Templar will give you trouble really but then with ur rotations being all dots that mofo should have to sit and spam purify and heal.

Use chains for speed and empower not invasion

Try it. If it works for you, then stick with it. If not, then why are you still using it?

I run DW on my Stamina Sorcerer and it has been pretty effective. Coupled with Hurricane, Bloodthirst and Rending Slashes seem to put quite a bit of pressure on others. Not a big fan of the DW Ultimate (when compared to DBoS). I also love using Quick Cloak + Hurricane (Major + Minor Expedition) to get from point A to point B or to chase down fleeing targets.

yeah its good on a stam sorc due to implosion, with flurry you get so much chance to disintergrate, on a dk its a bit different.

Yeah, I tried it on my DK before I switched to Magicka and I didn't like it as much. It's a blast on my Sorc though

Sets like shield breaker or sergeant mails set are really good for duel wield. They proc twice I think n heavy attacks. So depends on your play style. No matter what class. Cheers.

is implosion triggered by DoTs? My understanding is that flurry is a DoT, and DoTs don't proc implosion.

I always see it proccing from flurry, on me and for me, it says physical damage not direct physical damage

No, because you need rally. Equip a 2h and then you can run sword and board. It really isn't that difficult running 2h/sword and board. More tankiness, more heals, a CC, a gap closer, and a finisher. There are ways of bursting even tanky characters down. You just have to know how to use them, which by the way takes 0 effort. I can end someone at full health in 2 seconds with a critical rush>dizzying swings>dawnbreaker>reverse slice combo.

@caeliusstarbreaker I have a gap closer on my nightblade and I have to find myself spamming it all the time because half the time when I keep hitting it they run further and further and it pisses me off because I cannot land a single hit on them. Now what I don't understand is that I always get snared right after a gap closer with shuffle "snare immunity" or elusive mist, yet it seems like my gap closer doesn't seem to do the same for them, and it really pisses me off. If I did not have a gap closer, then I would not play in PvP.
