vMSA Possible without animation canceling?

NOTE: This isn't a rant about animation canceling. It's just a fellow player asking for advice.

So I'm in the infinitely frustrating process of trying to 'get gud' basically and started to grind my face against veteran Maelstrom arena since a few days.

Now the thing is, I'm sitting in europe and play on the NA server because of friends, which means my ping is never below 230ms and that makes animation canceling behave sometimes like it has a mind of its own. I often end up dying due to skill queuing not registering that I hit a button because I went too fast and said skill isn't being used because of it or bar swapping isn't happening because the skill queuing actually works and the whole mumbo jumbo goes the opposite direction everything goes too fast.

So here's my question for those who are way more proficent in running this than I am, is veteran maelstrom arena possible to do without crazy animation canceling? Like.. just doing things a little bit slower so my ping is getting its will?

Yeah it's possible, I mean people are clearing it with bow bow, and in tank armor, a friend of mine has about the same ping as you usually 300 and is getting 500k scores. What class are you on though? And what's your CP?

If the ping is going into the 500's and higher drastically spiking. Then it's nigh impossibru for a new player. But if it's staying steady at your numbers you can do it.

I'm a magicka NB at CP 371. I run dual destruction staff with 5p julianos, 2p grothdarr and 3p willpower. My gear is okay, seen people doing this with worse. The ping is just .. ugh.. I get some weird 2 second registering delay from the game after two quick bar swaps. -_-

Guess I'll just continue to try and see where this goes then.

I live in Australia and i have a higher ping to the NA server than you i sit around 260ms on a good day and 300 is average ping for me i know what you mean with the skill queue and harming anyone with higher ping but animation canceling is still possible as well as good fast clears in VMA. personally my VMA scores are 560k+ and you would be surprised with a fair few top players with the same ping that i deal with.

I also see that you are trying on a magic NB the thing you have to be careful of is light attack funnel weaving with anything over 200ms ping you just have to slow down key presses and be more precise. That was a bug that was introduces when they added skill queues because people were complaining about animation canceling which ended up making the game run worse and making it harder to play with higher ping (cos you know a lot of people on the forums are imbeciles that barely know how to heavy attack then use a skill then accuse everyone using macros cos they suck) (not directed at you)

i recommend you watch a few videos and take your time to learn spawns thats how most people clear VMA. its rough learning it but very rewarding so keep it up

If u have lag issues i suggest putting crushing shock on one of your destro bars strictly for the interrupt. Sometimes ads that needs to be interrupted cannot be bashed due to your client and server thinking the ad is in a different place, but an interrupt ability will land 100% of the time.

Also put the light armour shield on and always have it up. Shield plus strife heals will keep you alive.

300 ping is playable in eso in general, will definitely work. I have the same when using mobile connection. Make sure you play vMA on eu night-morning time and you shouldn't have many problems. Registering 2s delay (2000ms) has nothing to do with your 300ms ping, its just zosed msa, check this (6:45 time): https://youtu.be/e4GjowOt2h8?t=6m46s

If you havent finished vMA and aren't super familiar with the mechanics, then the reason why you are dying is not ping or lack of animation cancelling, it's that you have an overly offensive build (and 229 less CPs to boot).

NBs have a lot of HoTs and harness is strong, but there are going to be times that people who do not have vMA memorized are going to need a burst heal.
